Quarter 4
We are in the home stretch and lots of planning and preparing is
happening in the band room to get ready for the end of the year. I
am excited to once again be marching with the students for
Memorial Day. This event is for the community just as much as it
is to honor our fallen and lost Veterans. Please prepare for your
Memorial Day morning to be filled with music making.
Thank you for another year of making music with the band.

Large Group Contest
Our SH Band competed in
large group contest in Ada on
Friday, April 8th. We are one
of 2 schools out of the 8
schools in our subsection who
competed in large group
contest this year. The band
received two excellent ratings
from t he two Doctorate
professors and a superior
rating from our final judge.

Senior Trip
Our music seniors just completed their senior music tour at
the end of March. It was a great trip! Heads up that next
year’s SH Band and Choir will also be going on tour. We
have two fundraisers planned for next year with one more
possibly in the works to help offset costs of tour. Dates and
destination will be announced this Fall at the latest.
JH Festival
Once again UMC will be hosting their annual Junior High
music festival in Crookston. The festival will take place on
May 11th with the band performing in the morning and the
choir performing in the afternoon. We will leave after
school and return before the end of the day. Students will
need their khaki pants and black shirt for this event along
with money for lunch on campus.
Ensemble Contest
Congratulations to this year’s ensemble participants! WEM
instrumentalists received 3 Excellent ratings at contest. A
huge shoutout to the six Freshmen participating in contest this
year!

Chocolate Bar Fundraiser
The chocolate bar fundraiser is well on its way and the money
raised goes towards your child’s SH band trip. Reminder that
chocolate will be checked out one box at a time. If you would like
to bring home more than one box of chocolate, please contact me
to pre-pay for extra boxes. Our goal is to wrap up this fundraiser
by the beginning of May.
