c. Complication
 The girl waking up next morning in an unfamiliar room. It was the moment of realization that everything
around her was different yet looked familiar. After being kicked out by his own dad, for the reason that his
dad did not know who she is at this point of time, she roamed around their village where familiar faces
began to show up. A man wearing a white shirt who was sitting on the swing caught her attention. They
talked for hours, and his name was Red. Later on, Red asked where she got here watch and she told him
that it was bought from an antique shop.
d. Climax
 Red hurriedly insisted that they should go home and see each other soon. She sneaked into her room and
fell asleep. She heard Red calling her name, so she went down and talked to him. Red explained that he
knew where it came from and he knew how to bring her back to the future.
e. Denouement
 After letting out her emotions, Red said that it was time since she should be back between sunrise and
sunset. He showed her the key to unlock the watch. Despite her insisting that she wanted to stay in 1989,
Red said that she did not belong in 1989. Red handed her a necklace with the key as a pendant, but she
gave it back to him because the memories of him were enough for her. She was blinded by light, she
opened her eyes and realized that she was back in the time where she belongs.

 The theme of the story is Fantasy.
g. Point of View
 The used Point of View in the story is the 1st Person Point of View.
h. Conflict
 The conflict of the story is the Man/Woman vs Himself / Herself.
i. What is the prevalent value in the story?
 Truth and Love are the prevalent value in the story.
j. Why is the selection entitled “Chimera”?
 The story portrays a girl from 2010 (protagonist) going to an antique shop and buying a watch. She fell
asleep and woke up in 1989—her birth year—from her sleep. Whilst exploring the village in 1989, a boy
wearing a white shirt who sitting on the swing caught her attention. They talked for several hours and they
just somehow clicked like they were fated to meet. The selected story is entitled “Chimera” because this
story tells a story of falling in love despite the fact that the two lovers belonged in different times.
Their love story is something that they wanted to happen but would be impossible to happen since the girl
belongs in the future while the boy is from the past.
