a. For the Windows platform:
i. Downloads > Current Release > Primary Packages > Fluids and Structures (Full Package,
about 11.5 GB in total size)
ii. Downloads > Current Release > Primary Packages > Discovery (Full Package, about 6.7
GB in total size, optional, requires NVIDIA GPU)
Extract the files from the FLUIDSTRUCTURES_2022R1_WINX64.zip and
DISCOVERY_2022R1_WINX64.zip onto a temporary folder.
b. For the Linux platform: only the Fluids and Structures package (Full Package, about 16 GB
in total size) is available.

You may also choose to download the ISO image of the whole Ansys system for the current
release if you do not want to download separate packages for the different Ansys features.

NOTE: If you plan to use older releases of the Ansys software, you will need to install the
earlier releases for that year. For example, install the 2021 R1 release first before installing
the 2021 R2 release, or for the 2019 series, install R1 and R2 before installing R3.

3. Before installing, do the following steps:

a. Open TCP ports 1055, 1056 and 2325 to both incoming and outgoing traffic on the
Ansys client machine’s firewall. You can use the following links to open the ports in your
machine: for Windows-based (https://www.tomshardware.com/news/how-to-open-
firewall-ports-in-windows-10,36451.html) and for Linux-based
(https://www.journaldev.com/34113/opening-a-port-on-linux).
b. Ensure that you are logged in with an account that has administrative rights.
c. For Windows/10 and Server 2016/2019 machines, please temporarily turn off User Access
Control (UAC) in Control Panel > User Accounts and restart if required.
d. Close all running applications (e.g. Edge, Chrome, Office).
4. Here are the installation steps:
i. Select the appropriate DVD/folder for your platform.
ii. Browse to the root folder on the DVD/installer and run the setup file.
For Windows: using Windows Explorer, right-click on setup.exe and select Run as
administrator. For Linux, run ./INSTALL.
iii. Accept the default selection of the English language and select Install ANSYS Products.
iv. Read the Clickwrap Software License Agreement, select the I Agree radio button and
click Next.
v. Modify the Install Directory value as required and click Next.
vi. Select the product(s) to install (e.g. ANSYS Fluid Dynamics, Structural Mechanics,
Geometry Interfaces) and click Next.
vii. Click Next after reviewing the installation settings.
viii. Wait while the necessary prerequisites and packages are extracted, and files copied
to their final location.
ix. If prompted, modify the Mount Directory to D: for the 2nd disc.
x. Click Next when prompted to continue.
xi. Click Next after the files have been installed.
xii. Click Exit to complete the installation and to run the Licensing Wizard.
xiii. When prompted, accept the default port numbers for the ANSYS Licensing
Interconnect and ANSYS FlexNet programs.
xiv. Select the number of license server machines, the default is 1-server.
xv. Specify the IP address of the license server host:
a. 10.144.32.103 for research licenses
b. 10.144.32.102 for teaching licenses
xvi. Wait for the installation to complete and exit.

5. Check the availability of the license you will be using.

To see if the license server is up or if there are still available licenses, you may use the Ansys
Client Licensing Settings app. It is installed together with the packages and can be accessed
in the Start Menu for the Windows platform. Make sure that you are using an administrator
account to save any configuration settings you make in the app. Click the Ansys folder and
click the Ansys Client Licensing Settings app. Type the IP address of the license server
machine in Server 1 and port 1055 and click Test. If a green check mark appears, then you
have successfully connected to the server and will be able to get a license when you open
the Ansys software.

To determine if there are available licenses, click the FlexNet Publisher License Status. You
will see the maximum number of licenses that can be used, and the total number of licenses
being used.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
1. If a red cross mark appears in the Ansys Client Licensing Settings app when you checked for
the connection to the license server, try to do the following:
a. Ping the IP address of the license server you are trying to access. If it fails, you have
no connection to the server and either the server is off or you are not connected to
the correct network (i.e. inside the UP network). Send an email to
hpc@coe.upd.edu.ph so we can check the status of the license server.
b. Make sure that you have correctly opened the TCP ports 1055, 1056 and 2325.
c. Check that your firewall allows connections for public/private networks.

2. There are only 25 research licenses and 250 teaching licenses available. Please send an email
to hpc@coe.upd.ed.uph if you have an estimated number of users that will use these types
of licenses. Please provide us with the usernames and hostname of the machines they will
be using, as these will be logged in the license server. We will be using this information to
determine the usage policy for the limited number of licenses.

3. For a list of the available features in our licenses, you can look at this file (academic-product-
reference-table-2021-r1). Only the LS-DYNA products are not available for use with our
licenses.

4. If you have any questions or concerns regarding your installation or license, send an email
to hpc@coe.upd.edu.ph.
