Politics is my choice because it has a greater impact on our daily lives than
we realize. Politics is the discipline of maximizing resource allocation for the
common good. It necessitates a high level of comprehension and ability. The common man, too, need a rudimentary understanding of politics, particularly in a democracy, which is fundamentally a check-and-balance mechanism. A democracy is not administered by the government alone, but by citizens and the government working together. A politically conscious society is one that is concerned about the well-being of its citizens. One of the unpleasant truths of life in the real world is that, unless you are in a position of power and can use that influence to bring about the desired change, your opinions count far less than you believe they do. It makes no difference whether you believe that war is evil or that something should be prohibited. There are many powerful forces in the world campaigning to ensure that they have their way, and if your perspective isn't strong and convincing enough to cause a butterfly effect and a mass movement, no number of placard marches or Facebook posts will be able to change things in the near term. This is when politics comes into play. It allows you to bestow power on someone you can trust to represent the causes you believe in, and in the event that no such person is available, it permits 'you' to represent your cause so that you can utilize the power to bring about the change you seek.
