Introducción.

The teaching of vocabulary and pronunciation at basic levels or for elementary school
children can be done in various ways, for this teaching-learning process must take into account
some aspects such as techniques and strategies that will allow learning to be more dynamic
and effective.

Strategies are considered a set of steps, routines, and guides used by teachers to
facilitate the acquisition, retrieval, storage, and use of a foreign language in students. The
techniques are those used by the teacher for teaching in the classroom.

In this document, we will discuss the strategies and techniques that can be used when
teaching vocabulary. Through some activities for the fourth grade of elementary school,
documents sent by the teacher and internet files were analyzed to deepen the topic.

1. Objectives

1.1. General Objective:

To understand the strategies and techniques for teaching vocabulary and pronunciation in a
foreign language to elementary school children.

1.2. Specifics Objectives:

- Consult and analyze strategies and techniques for teaching English pronunciation.

- Design activities for teaching vocabulary in English language learning for fourth
graders.

2. Prior knowledge.

What strategies and resources do you use to teach new vocabulary to your students?

Firstly, it should be borne in mind that play is one of the activities through which children
acquire language best because it is something they do daily. Therefore, it is important
4

that the teacher is creative and incorporates and adapts these games so that the student
maintains their attention, has fun, and acquires content in a fun way.

The teacher can implement board games, role-playing games, physical activities in
which the child has to overcome obstacles, puzzles, songs, etc. It will be easier to
acquire another language as the children know how these games work and understand
their meaning more easily.

6. Conclusiones.

If students fail to generate sounds intelligibly, they will not be able to communicate
appropriately, resulting in interference in communication; therefore, this suggests that
pronunciation teaching has to be integrated in the classroom with the other linguistic aspects
and language skills for the achievement of the communicative competence.

The teacher who decides to work with students in the infancy phase should be trained
correctly in order to ensure that their students acquire these tools will allow them to easily
understand the meaning and use.
