The professional learning covered, teaching of the 42 sounds of English used in the Jolly Phonics
Program. How to apply multi-sensory teaching techniques, strategies and activities for reading
and writing using a synthetic phonics program. Creating detailed programming and teaching
techniques for Term 1 of Jolly Phonics. These new learnings connect to Australian teaching
standards in terms of understanding how students learn, implementing strategies and
techniques, how to organise and plan the content in to a sequence of learning programs.
Through the completion of this course I have connected with standards of engaging in
professional learning and improving my teaching practices.

Brief annotation of the connection between the learning and the Standards
This development focussed on Term 2/3/4 if of the Reception Jolly phonics course. How to teach
the alternate sounds, the rules of spelling and how to aid the understanding. As well as a variety
of games, aids, teaching techniques and tips to help clarify and reinforce learning. These new
learnings connect with the standards, and identifying and understanding how students learn,
implementing the correct strategies of the teaching area. Brainstorming organisational techniques
to plan and structure a sequence learning program. In completion of this course I have engaged
in professional learning to improve my teaching practice.
