This professional learning provided support and guidance for me as a beginning teacher. We
discussed work/life balance, how to engage professionally with parents/caregivers and
colleagues and also identified behaviour management strategies.

This learning connects to the standards as it provides effective strategies for dealing with
wellbeing and safety of all students. Allows us to understand ways of using veral and non-verbal
strategies to support student wellbeing, engagement, participation.

The learning involves reflecting on our teaching practice and looking at ways we can improve it.
We were shown resources and support materials to ensure that we are delivering the curriculum
effectively. It also provides a support network for graduate/beginning teachers.

Brightpath provides an avenue for tracking assessment online. As professionals we can assess
student learning and evaluate/improve our teaching programs based on learning areas students
may require more explicit instruction.

This learning connects to the Standards as it identifies the best practise used to teach students to
read. It discusses the importance of The Big Six with emphasis on Oral Language. It develops an
understanding of knowing students and how they learn. It discusses how to teach students to
read. It provides support in how to plan and implement effective teaching. It also uses tools to
assess and act on student learning.

The articles and resources allow for content to be planned and taught in order to deliver a
mathematics program that is differentiated. The scope and sequence I was provided with allows
for explicit teaching strategies and to ensure that each student is taught based on their
knowledge and understanding.
