Teacher Standards
(NCBTS)
What is NCBTS?
The NCBTS is an integrated theoretical framework that
defines the different dimensions of effective teaching, where
effective teaching means being able to help all types of
students learn the different learning goals in the curriculum.
What does Competency-Based
Mean?
Competency-based means that the standards or criteria for
characterizing good teaching are defined in terms of what the
teacher is competent to do.

Overview

• Issued DO No. 42 entitled National Adoption and Implementation of the
Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers (PPST)
• In order to address the changes brought about by various national and
global frameworks
• Because of these, improvements to NCBTS = PPST
