You have watched a video on a non-profit organisation working to stop the use of animals

for testing medicines used by human beings. Now, your professor has asked you to write

an essay.

Testing on animals is a standard in scientific research. What is the best way to deal with this
problem?

Testing on animals is a standard in scientific research so that many people think that animals
do not suffer with this practice. There are some reasons why we should stop doing this.

First of all, it is well demonstrated by scientists and researchers that a lot of animals suffer
while scientists test on them. That is because those that are in charge of doing these tests do
not feed the animals, they mistreat them…There are cases where animals are well cared but
this is not the common case.

Moreover, I reckon that testing on animals is an outdated form of research. Nowadays, there
are a lot of companies that do not use animals for doing their tests so-called cruelty free
brands and that are vegan and suitable for the environment too, for example, Urban Decay,
Freshly Cosmetics, and so on.

I am aware that there are products that must be tested on animals before on persons such as
certain medicines. But in those cases, I think that the best way to deal with this is that
governments should monitor the animals’ conditions.

Many forests around the world are being destroyed for agricultural, commercial, or

housing use without allowing time for the forests to regenerate themselves. What

can be done to improve the situation?

Nowadays there are people who still think that destroying forests for a concrete necessity is
not immoral. But what they do not know is that this action causes bad effects to the
environment.
First of all, researchers and scientists demonstrated that the destruction of the forests
contributes so much to the greenhouse effect and, in consequence to the global warming. That
is due to trees purify air because their leaves absorb pollutant gases. I reckon that the best
that can be done to deal with this problem is to stop destroying forests or reforestation.

Moreover, there are several research’s that say that a soil that is populated by nature, trees
and biodiversity has a high capacity to absorb water and that helps to prevent floods. So here
is another reason to plant trees and start the reforestation of the forests instead of destroying
them.

In my opinion, governments and population should take awareness of the importance that
reforestation has on the environment and how this action prevents to the greenhouse effect
and floods, among others.
