Connect to the climate change issue?

(Badurek, C. A. 2020) said that biogas differs from natural gas and that it is a renewable

energy source produced biologically through anaerobic digestion rather than a fossil fuel

produced by geological processes. With this biogas production it will help our society

What is the urgency of doing this study? unsa inyong rational ngano gi pili ni ninyo na
study?

- Due to the growing concerns of the filipino people, the philippines food waste,

agricultural waste and pollution is part of the known problem facing our country right

now. In terms of energy sources the philippines is reliant on other nations in fossil fuels

and gas production. So as a group of researchers we came up with the idea to produce a

renewable energy source known as biogas using the three components, citrus peel, tea

dregs and cow manure. Biogas production is a big help in our country as we need

renewable sources of energy to replace the usage of fossil fuels and if we continue using

these fossil fuels we will be experiencing climate change and global warming.

Why this study?

Why do we use these 3 components? What are the chemical properties present of these

components that make the Biogas Efficient?

- We choose these 3 components because citrus peelings have a Limonene present in it

which is known as an antimicrobial agent that impedes biogas production when digesting

the peels. Conversion of citrus peel wastes into fuel is attractive, since it gives benefits in

terms of both energy recovery and environmental aspects. Citrus peel waste contains both

soluble and insoluble carbohydrates that can be digested to biogas according to (Nguyen
H, et.al,. 2015) Tea dregs contain phosphorus, potassium, and rich in nitrogen that can

potentially produce biogas. Cow manure on the other hand contains nitrogen content of

3%, a phosphorus content of 2%, and a potassium content of 1% according to (Tilley, N.

(2016).

Ni gana inyong prototype?

- Due to the lack of the fermentation process of the cow manure it wasn’t able to produce

methane gas. It takes 30 days for it to be produced.

In a few sentences, can you tell us what your study is all about?

● Our study tackles the Efficiency of Biogas out of our 3 components which is Citrus

peelings, tea dregs and fermented cow manure.

What is your motivation for this study?

● The motivation of this research is to provide a new alternative method for improving

biogas production, which is a renewable source of energy that is very beneficial to our

nature and society, rather than using fossil fuels, which can be harmful to our

environment. As humans, we are concerned about practical issues such as climate

change, which prompted our research as well as the desire to gain intellectual knowledge

from carrying out our investigatory prototype.

If these three components were combined, what would be the result? Was it really effective?

Was it really efficient to produce biogas?

- Yes, there is a high possibility based on their chemical properties. As it was said earlier

the cow manure has a methane gas present in it if it is fermented within 30 days.

Citrus peelings also provide benefits in terms of both energy recovery and environmental

aspects which makes it attractive to fuel. Tea dregs contain phosphorus, potassium, and

rich in nitrogen that can potentially produce biogas

Although we don’t know if it is efficient because our prototype didn’t work

Did you bridge any gap from your study?

● Our study was hindered by time constraints because the researchers only had a limited

amount of time to produce and analyze the results of biogas production. The fermented

cow manure must be fermented for 30 days in order to produce methane gas. Such

practical issues may limit the amount of time available to study a research problem. In

order to conduct a future study, the researchers must have enough time to ferment cow

manure in order for it to produce biogas.

Why did you choose this title?

● We choose the title the Efficiency of Biogas from Citrus Peelings and Tea dregs with

Fermented Cow Manure. because we want to know if it can produce biogas or not, and

also to improve the quality of the biogas out from the other previous components of the

biogas production.
What is the significance of the study?

● The significance of our study is to provide a new alternative component to improve the

quality of biogas. And also, this renewable source of energy called Biogas is eco-friendly,

which means it cannot harm our environment, not just like fossil fuels that are commonly

used nowadays. We also know the effects of these fossil fuels on our environment.

● (Og pangutan-on og what are the effects of fossil fuels in our environment)

When fossil fuels are burned, they release large amounts of carbon dioxide that causesses

greenhouse gas into the air. Greenhouse gasses trap heat in our atmosphere, causing

global warming.

What limitations did you encounter?

● The limitations we encountered in our study is we don't have enough time to ferment our

cow manure which is a very important thing to produce the Biogas.

How did you establish the limits around the scope of your data collection?

● This study focuses on improving and analyzing the efficiency of producing biogas from

combining 3 components: citrus peel, tea dregs and fermented cow manure. The

delimitation of this study are: researchers are only limited on producing and analyzing the

efficacy of producing biogas using the citrus peelings, tea dregs and fermented cow

manure

What is the scope of the study?

● This study focuses on improving and analyzing the efficiency of producing biogas from
