Al Jazeera

This report is about Al Jazeera, its location is in Doha. It opened in the early June
1996.Al Jazeera’s past was indeed tied to the worlds major event. I am writing this
report to analyze how Al Jazeera operates, how it functions and how it makes
news channels.
Al jazeera’s Good Background
Since it’s founding in1996, Al Jazeera’s past has been tied to the world’s major
events which gives us free access to world wide information. Moreover, Al Jazeera
covers controversial issues and for years it’s been trying to grasp free access of
information in the one of the strictest parts of the world. In early June 1996, Al
Jazeera’s building in Doha started to come to life as dozens of journalists gathered
from around the world as well as piloting sessions started.
After five months of piloting, Al Jazeera went live on November 1, 1996. In the
late November, Al Jazeera broadcast it’s first live talk show ‘shariah and life’. It’s
constant guest was Sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradawi and the first presenter was Ahmed
Al-Sheikh. However it was a call-in-show that tackled modern living with an open
mind.
Al jazeera’s Dark Side
In Al Jazeera work you can find it all, from the heights of the indomitability of the
human spirit to the lows of dictatorship, repression and the abuse of power. Even
though Al Jazeera newsroom and bureaus around the world are full of fearless
journalists, they still pay the price of trailblazing journalism. Some were killed o
the front lines, held for mor than six years and more than one faced twisted
torture in Abu Ghraib. Countless others in their storied halls have been held,
prosecuted on false charges, intimidated, banned and even forced to leave their
home countries forever-even sentenced to death.
For years, it has had it’s satellite signal scrambled and re-scrambled, and it’s
digital platforms blocked. As well as some countries have publicy demanded that
Al Jazeera itself be shut down.
RecommendationsIn the short term, Al Jazeera needs to seriously consider the
problems it’s facing. My recommendations are that it could limit the off-boundary
places of trying to get free access to information in one of the strictest and
dangerous parts f the world. In addition Al Jazeera should highlight the issues-
regarding the torture and death of it’s journalists-and try solving them by
providing extra protection as ell as discussing the matter with the other countries.
Furthermore Al Jazeera must not send it’s journalist to get information from other
countries instead it can collect information from the journalists in that specific
country and that would not be offensive to the country.
