20. Read the source given below and answer the following questions. (Any 4)
* Sir Jamshedji Tata set up an iron and steel plant in 1907 at Sakchi, near the confluence
of the rivers Subarnarekha and Kharkai in Bihar (now in Jharkhand) in the name of Tata
Iron and Steel Company (TISCO). Now Sakchi is a colony in Jamshedpur city. The place
is situated in region of ore, coal and manganese deposits. Kolkata provides it a large
market. Kharkai and Subarnarekha rivers supply water to the industry.
* Jharia (Jharkhand) provides coal. Other mines of Orissa and Jharkhand supply iron ore.
Chhattisgarh provides lime stone, dolomite and manganese.
* Because of these facilities Jamshedpur is the most conveniently situated iron steel centre
in the country geographically.
* Along with TISCO, several other industrial plants have been set up at Jamshedpur. They
produce chemicals, locomotive parts, agricultural equipment’s machineries implate,
cable and wire. Jamshedpur is a well-planned and clean industrial city of India.
