Summary

Suhyeok thinks of the time he started all liking the one and only president of class 2-5, Choi
Namra, and how rain is always romantic in some form of way.

Notes

This is the second part of "Remember Summer Days" so this is a direct continuation of that
work.

See the end of the work for more notes

Suhyeok liked Namra for a while now.

He didn’t exactly know when he did or how it happened.

No, he does and that’s a lie.

It all started when he was sent to the office after a small scuffle on school grounds with his old
group of “friends” two years ago. As he sat there in tattered pants and a dress shirt with a few
bruises to match the look, he turned to look at the girl who entered the faculty with questions for a
teacher who he forgot about or didn’t care about at all.

She had straight black hair with black obsidian eyes to match. She had porcelain white skin and a
neat and tidy uniform as well. She looked like a porcelain doll and she captivated him to say the
least.

She turned to look at him and the delinquents lined up by the wall with the sports teacher, Mr.
Kang Jin-goo, yelling at them one by one. To be honest, Suhyeok was staring at the clock for the
last hour they’ve been inside the faculty until she came in.

She made direct eye contact with him for a split moment and he quickly looked away for a bit not
to make myself look like he was staring at her.

She kept looking at him until the teacher she asked questions pulled out a stack of papers from
underneath her desk and handed it to Namra. She bowed in thanks and took one last look at him
before leaving the faculty.

That was the first time he ever saw Choi Namra.

He would see her again from time to time on campus where they would pass by one another or she
would go to the faculty to talk to teachers and see him there again after getting in trouble. He would
always look at her as she entered the room only to leave just as quickly as she arrived.

He didn’t even know her name until she was brought up in a conversation started by one of the
boys at a hangout spot on top of a building.

“Y’know, that girl we keep on seeing in the faculty. Does anybody know her name?” asked
Myung-hwan.

“Nope, but she is pretty hot though.” replied Gwi-nam followed by a low whistle with Chang-hoon
laughing beside him.

“Her name’s Choi Namra, she’s pretty popular among the girls for her bitchy attitude” said Hyeon-
ju who answered the question while chewing gum.

“You serious? She looks like she’d faint if you yelled at her.” Myung-hwan said while laughing.

“I know she doesn’t look the type but she’s got the bite, believe me.” replied Hyeon-ju with a
serious tone.

“How come?” asked Chang-hoon, who was sitting on a pile of broken plywood beside Gwi-nam.

“I watched her fight once, I don’t know why she started the fight but she smacked the shit out of a
girl in front of her and pulled her hair towards a locker. She’s a feisty one despite her looks.”
Hyeon-ju said, followed by the sound of oooh’s by the boys.

Suhyeok listened to all of what they said and wanted to know her even more now.

“Hey, Suhyeok! What are your thoughts on her since you’re lost in your thoughts again?” asked
Myung-hwan.

“She’s alright.” said Suhyeok who responded like he wasn’t heavily invested in the conversation.

“That’s it? She’s alright? Look at this guy.” said Myung-hwan who followed by pointing his
fingers and started chuckling with the rest following suit.

Suhyeok didn’t think anything much of her since he didn’t know her so who is he to say she’s a b-
word or any of the words Hyeon-ju said. Half of the shit Hyeon-ju says is full of shit either way so
he isn’t gonna trust her on that story.

Gwinam stood up and approached Suhyeok and asked “Just alright? Man, she made my dick hard
after Hyeon-ju said she fights. Imagine how she’s like in bed, did you think about that? Why? Are
you hard after thinking about it?” as he attempted to touch his privates until Suhyeok pushed him
away not too hard but enough to signal it wasn’t with violent intent.

“No, man. I just don’t know how to think about her since I’ve never even met her.” Suhyeok said
with a joking tone but had a little bit of anger after hearing the stuff Gwi-nam said.

“What? Do you want to get to know her or something to have an opinion about her?” asked
Myung-hwan with a joking tone.

“Not really, I don’t really care since she looks like a bore anyways.” Suhyeok said but his thoughts
were the complete opposite since she was interesting.

All of them laughed and simply told him comments like “You get to say that since you’re a pretty
boy, asshole.” and “The only thing you’re interested in is fighting.”. He laughed along with them
but deep down he felt unhappy with them. He wanted to leave this life behind since the only thing
it gave him in return was going home to a crying grandmother who doubted his own future. He
was getting sick of it and after a few months, he finally cut ties with them.

On that day, Suhyeok smiled in relief and went home to his grandma without bruises to which his
grandma cried in joy. He made a promise to finally change and he did.

One morning, Suhyeok looked at himself in the mirror as he got ready for school. He saw his neat
uniform which was perfectly ironed with a brand new pair of sneakers which his grandma saved up
to buy for him. They were white ASICS sneakers that looked fresh out the box. He smiled to
himself thinking that this year will be different and a fresh start.

He ate a good breakfast and gave his grandmother a kiss on the cheeks as thanks for the new shoes
and ran off to the bus stop.

He got to the gate of the school where a lot of the students stopped to give him more space to avoid
him. He expected this and sighed but he will have to prove to the school that he changed. No
matter how long it takes.

He saw his old “friends” out of the corner of his eye expecting to come join them in skipping class
with smiles on their faces but he walked right by them and acted like they didn’t exist.

He entered the main building and walked up the stairs quietly while trying to find his classroom.
To say the least, he didn’t expect to be transferred to a new section but this was a blessing in
disguise since these were new and fresh faces.

He took a deep breath and readied himself before entering the classroom.

It was the first day of high school and Suhyeok entered his new classroom of 1-5.

He felt so uncomfortable at first when he first entered the class since all he got were silent
whispers and lingering stares.

He made his way to a locker and placed his bag inside before taking a seat and looking at the
blackboard. As time passed, the classroom filled up and saw old friends reunite and excitedly greet
one another and others slept. He also tried to sleep but couldn’t so he just looked around the
classroom while setting his arms like he was gonna sleep. That was until he saw a familiar face
come into the classroom.

Choi Namra opened the door but nobody paid any attention except him. He saw her walk to the
table to the corner of the room right by the window and set out all her notebooks inside her desk.

The only thought that went through his mind during that entire event was “Holy shit, she’s my
classmate.” and waited for it to set in before looking back at her look at her desk like she was
extremely bored in the class.

He stared at her for a little bit before looking away before she caught him staring and might think
he was an absolute creep.

He watched as a pair (a boy and a girl) hurriedly ran into the classroom with one carrying an extra
bag which was the girl. He saw her throw it to the boy and watch him stick his tongue out at her
before Ms.Park entered the room to which the class stood up to greet her a good morning.
“Good morning, class!” exclaimed Ms.Park.

“Good morning, Ms.Park!” the class said collectively.

“How was your summer break?” asked Ms.Park with a joking tone.

There was a collective cry coming from the whole class which Suhyeok watched in entertainment.

“I know I know you’ll miss it but today’s your first day of high school so be excited for the year to
come.” Ms. Park said with a smile while looking around the class.

“Yes, ma’am.” The class answered sadly but in a joking tone.

“Anyways, we have a newcomer to this class. Would you like to introduce yourself to the class,
please?” said Ms.Park who gestured to Suhyeok.

All eyes landed on Suhyeok who looked dumb founded at first before standing up and walking up
in front of the class.

“Please introduce yourself to the class,” said Ms.Park with an inquisitive tone.

“Yes, ma’am. Good morning, I’m Lee Suhyeok and I like to play basketball. I hope we can all get
along.” Suhyeok said loudly before bowing a bit.

The class giggled a bit when he finished.

“Thank you, Mr. Lee. You aren’t going to work yet but at least you’re prepared for the bit.” joked
Ms. Park to which he and the class smiled at.

Ms. Park was one of the good teachers who really cared for her students. She was also one of the
biggest supporters of Suhyeok who changed his ways around middle school and was often one of
the teachers he regularly talked to outside of class despite skipping most of the time. She saw that
he had a good heart but was just mixed up with some bad apples to say the least.

“Ms. Choi, is it okay if you’re class president again this year?” asked Ms.Park.

“Yes, ma’am.” Namra replied with a blank expression and Ms.Park nodding in appreciation.

The class didn’t even object to the statement and just continued on like usual.

Suhyeok just assumed this was because she was the smartest in the class (CORRECT) and because
the entirety of the class trusted her with leading them (VERY WRONG, HORRIFICALLY
WRONG).

Suhyeok would take a look at Namra who was jotting down notes already just as ma’am started
discussing before facing the front where and listened to the schedule and teachers they will be
having for the year before completely forgetting what it was.

The first few weeks of the school year were quiet for Suhyeok. People avoiding him was still a
thing but not a lot of people did it since they saw that he stopped hanging out with the bullies. He
kept his head low in class and did nothing to disrupt it even. He even tried taking notes but at the
end of the class he retained nothing from the lessons and just closed his notebooks.

It wasn’t until two boys named Cheongsan and Gyeong-su had the courage to introduce themselves
to him one day.

Someone patted his shoulder lightly and Suhyeok turned to look at who it was.

“Hey, you wanna come with us to lunch?” asked a Gyeong-su who gestured to the door using his
thumb where Cheong-san was waiting by the door.

He could only nod and their friendship started there on the way to the cafeteria.

They got along pretty well with the conversations they shared and they learned that they shared
common interests. It wasn’t long after where the rest of the boys like Woojin, Dae-su, and Joon-
yeong came to hangout together with the three of them and started their iconic friend group.

The rest of the class slowly warmed up to Suhyeok and accepted him except Namra.

Namra was always in the corner of the class or far away from them where the rest of the class
would talk about something. Always in her own little world and reading her notes and preparing
for the next class.

Suhyeok would look at her from time to time to see if she would ever stand and try to join in. She
never did but it never stopped him from hoping anyways.

During recess one afternoon, he asked Cheongsan about her and why she seemed so distant with
the class in the corner of the classroom where he, Cheongsan, and Gyeong-su were all seated.

“Hey, Cheongsan.”

“Yeah, man”

“Why is Pres always so distant? I just noticed that she never talks to anyone in the class unless
she’s forced to.”

“I don’t know to be honest. She’s been like that since we entered middle school. Always quiet,
always minding her business, and never taking notice of anyone.”

“I-sak thinks it's because she’s better than most of us.”

Suhyeok just looked at him completely confused about the statement.

“She’s rich y’know like loaded. She lives in the high rise apartments near the school. Her mom is a
senator or congresswoman??? Don’t remember but she must be like that because she was raised
like that.”
Suhyeok just looked at both of them and said “That’s kind of assuming, you two. Didn’t you guys
ever get to try to know her?”

“We did but she never opens up or comes to hangouts. She’s kind of been like that to begin with
ever since.”

He takes a look at her just reading the book for their literary class and flipping over to the next
page after taking a minute to read it. He wanted to get to know her but with the way the boys
painted her as basically unreachable. He wavered in that desire just a little bit but not enough to
completely stop him.

He would sometimes try to approach her but completely wuss out since he knows he might look
like a bumbling idiot, no matter how many times he rehearses lines to start a conversation.
Understanding this himself, he decided to just watch her from afar and admire her like a painting to
say the least.

He’d notice she spent time often in the library studying wherever a seat is available. She never ate
in class since she always ate in private somewhere only she knows. She liked to listen to music
hinted at by the earphones she always wore. He was close to her one time walking home and heard
music playing from her earphones like a piano with background vocals. “Maybe, she's into ballads”
he thought to himself

It would continue to be like this to the point he didn’t even notice looking for her everywhere he
went in school hoping to catch a glimpse of her somewhere despite being classmates with her.

“Hey, Earth to Suhyeok. What are you zoning out for?” asked Cheong-san.

“Hm?” who was snapped back to reality after looking for Namra, she was probably at the faculty as
usual or god knows where.

“Are you coming with us to the mall? My treat.” asked Cheongsan who raised his wallet and
waved it.

He took one last look around the classroom to look for her until she went inside the classroom to
start packing.

Suhyeok felt relieved for some odd reason and replied with a simple “sure” and slinging his bag
across him. Shoving his hands in his pockets and getting ready to leave, he took one last look at the
girl before joining his friends down the hall.

Fast forward a year later, he’s sitting beside Namra in the classroom. It’s been a few months since
they became friends after their small trip to Suhyeok’s secret spot. Things improved for Namra
since then and she became friends with the boys and girls of the class. Mostly, the ones Suhyeok is
close with.

Namra was reading a textbook for their upcoming Physics period where their teacher Lee Byeong-
chan said they had an upcoming quiz. He, on the other hand, was busy looking at her instead of
doing the Physics homework their professor assigned them a week ago and was due in an hour.

Namra turned to take a look at him and quickly turned away trying to pretend he was answering his
homework.

“Suhyeok, are you done with your homework?” she asked plainly.

“Yup.” As he covered the entire page with his right arm before taking a look at her and smiling.
She smiled at him and said “You know I can help, right?”

“Is it okay with you?” Suhyeok asked shyly.

“Yes, it’s okay. All you have to do is ask.” replied Namra with a kind tone.

She moved her table a bit closer to him and leaned in to analyse the homework.

“So what are you having problems with?” She turned to face him.

“Question 4, I can’t solve it since I forgot how to convert seconds into hours.”

Namra smiled at him and asked “Is that why you were looking at me earlier? Did you want to
borrow my textbook?”.

Suhyeok paused for a bit before simply saying.

“Yes.”

“Why did you take so long to answer? What’s the real reason?” Namra asked while laughing.

“If I said I was admiring your stunning beauty, would you believe me?” Suhyeok said while
slightly leaning closer to her.

Namra slightly pushed his face a bit with her forefinger before replying in a soft tone.“Silly boy.”

Suhyeok just chuckled before hearing gagging noises from behind him. He turned to see Cheong-
san making a disgusted face

“Get a room!” Cheong-san said with Woojin and Daesu right behind him chuckling.

Suhyeok just threw up a middle finger at them while they just snickered past him.

“Why are you still teaching him, Pres. He’s hopeless.” Joon-yeong chimed in while walking in
with Gyeong-su who was snacking on some crackers. Namra just watched and was entertained at
the sight of the boys mocking their friend.

“You guys are assholes, you know that.” Suhyeok said.

“We know, we love you too.” Gyeong-su said who puckered his lips quickly to imitate a kiss to
tease Suhyeok. Suhyeok was about to stand up and punch Gyeong-su on the arm but Namra put an
arm on his shoulder to put him back on his seat.

”Hey, focus.” Namra said while snapping her fingers in front of his face.

“Joon-yeong, how much time do we have left before class starts?”

Joon-yeong rolled up his sleeve to check his watch.

“It’s still pretty early, you have 30 minutes before class starts plus 15 since he’s always late.” Joon-
yeong replied quickly.

“Okay, you have 10 minutes to answer this homework and 20 minutes to cram info for the quiz. If
you’re going to study, that is.” Namra stated.

“Can I borrow your textbook?” He asks sweetly in a mocking tone.

“No.” She also says sweetly in a mocking tone before moving her textbook to her lap.

“Here, I’ll help you out. Just listen and you’ll get it, okay?” She said calmly

Suhyeok can only nod in response and readied his pen.

She would start discussing and funnily enough Suhyeok listened. He listened like his life depended
on it and he managed to understand what she was saying. His eyes would sometimes wander to her
hands. They looked soft and small, it was tempting to hold them right then and there but he wasn’t
gonna let that temptation win. After 5 minutes, he finished
his homework ahead of the expected time and Namra slowly clapped to congratulate him. Knowing
her, she did it to tease him just a little bit.

Namra was still clapping and Suhyeok said “Thank you, thank you, one and all.”

Namra just chuckled for a bit before setting the textbook on the table and getting ready to study
again.

“Thanks, Pres. I’ll buy you something on the way home.”

“Sure, I'll take your offer up for it.” Namra nodded and smiled at him.

“I’ll go join Joon-yeong now. Go study already.” Suhyeok said slowly standing up and getting
ready to walk to the boy's spot.

Namra nodded and gestured to him to go to the boys already.

He mouthed “thank you” to her and she said “you’re welcome” back.

As he slowly approached the boys, he heard their chatter.

“Okay, idiots. Knowing all of you didn’t study, I will hold one of my very famous but rare tutor
sessions 30 minutes before the quiz.” Joon-yeong said.

“If you don’t understand, that’s on you.” which he followed the statement with and a collective
groan was heard among the boys.

Suhyeok just chuckled and sat beside Woojin where he patted Woojin on the shoulder and the
latter just nodded back.

“Okay, I will call you one by one and by specific names so you have to answer these questions.”
Joonyeong clarified.

“Idiot 1.” points to Woojin.

“Idiot 2.” points to Gyeong-su.

“Idiot 3.” points to Dae-su.

“Idiot 4.” points to Suhyeok.

“Understood?” Joon-yeong said simply.

“Why does he get to be 1?” Daesu asked innocently, pointing at Woojin who put a hand on his
chest in offence.
“Does it matter? You’re all idiots.” Cheong-san said from behind them, who was beside Onjo who
was asking him for help on a topic.

Gyeong-su and Daesu just scowled at him before turning to face Joon-yeong.

Joon-yeong would start discussing the topic the quiz covered bit by bit. The rest of the boys would
stop to ask questions from time to time but Suhyeok paid no mind to them.

Suhyeok throughout the recap was just zoning out and somehow answering the questions correctly.
When he thinks about it, the homework he did earlier covered the whole topic of the quiz so he
thinks he’ll do okay since he understood Namra’s teaching session earlier. Take a quick peek at
Namra from time to time just quickly enough that nobody would notice.

Namra.

Namra. Namra. Namra.

He wished he could say her name without getting shy but he couldn’t for the reason he wasn’t
ready to tell her. He didn’t want to risk the friendship now that they became friends. They got
closer even more so since he spent most of his time with her nowadays which the boys noticed and
started to suspect something but never said anything.

“Idiot 4!” Joon-yeong shouted to bring Suhyeok back to them.

“Sorry, what’s the question?” Suhyeok asked politely.

Joon-yeong rolled his eyes before repeating the question “It is a quantity or phenomenon that has
two independent properties: magnitude and direction?”.

Suhyeok gave it some thought and turned to look at Namra who was also paying attention to Joon-
yeong’s recap session.

Namra saw him turn to her and looked at him, She mouthed “answer it” in a soft way.

“HEY! NO HELPING!” Joon-yeong shouted to which Suhyeok just squinted at him in annoyance.

He smiled at her before facing Joon-yeong who raised his eyebrows while waiting for the answer.

“Vector?” Suhyeok said, unsure of his answer.

“Final Answer?” asked Joon-yeong.

“Vector.” Suhyeok answered confidently this time.

Joon-yeong would look at his index cards and say “Correct.” before moving on to the next
question.

He turned to Namra again who gave him a thumbs up for getting the correct answer. He smiled at
her and he went back to listening again. Time passed and Physics was about to start.

He can confidently say he’s ready for the quiz thanks to the help of the two top students of the
school.
Everyone was getting ready for it by checking textbooks, reviewers, index cards and the like while
Suhyeok sat back down on his chair thinking about her.

As of late, she’s been the only thing that’s been on his mind. When he wakes up and goes to bed,
she is the first and last thing on his mind. He thought to himself “Oh I’m screwed, aren’t I.” He
burrows his head underneath his arms and puts his head on the table while closing his eyes.

I’m in love with Choi Namra.

He raised his head up and took a small look at Namra who was looking at the blackboard. She
turned to him and mouthed “goodluck”. He mouthed “you too” back at her and the conversation
ended there.

He was lost in thought, mostly contemplating on whether or not the sudden revelation is a good or
a bad thing, until a certain someone called his name.

“Suhyeok.” Namra said quite loudly which nobody else could hear besides him. He always paid
attention to her even if there were a hundred people in the room. His eyes were always on her and
watching over her.

“711?” He mouthed to her.

She shrugged in response to his question.

“You want to go to the mall? Let’s go buy some sandwiches or eat out.” He asked with a smile on
face.

Namra replied with “Secret.” while putting her finger on her lips to keep Suhyeok guessing.

He rolled his eyes with a smile on his face and was willing to wait till class was over for her
answer.

Their teacher, Lee Byeong-chan, entered the room with a messy look but otherwise nothing out of
the usual.

“Alright, class. I won’t hold the test and move it to another day. Instead, I’ll give you an early
dismissal. I have some family matters to attend to.” And left as quickly as he arrived.

The entire class just watched that whole thing and didn’t react until after he left the room.

Nobody said a word and everybody just started packing.

Suhyeok just looked around and saw Namra walk towards him before lightly poking him.

“Let’s go.” Namra with her bag on her back told him.

“Right.” He suddenly stood up and quickly started packing.

He finished packing fast because he only packed two notebooks and a pencil case and followed her
to the hallway,

The class didn’t even wait a minute and they all just left the classroom before anybody could call
them out on it. They scattered and the friend groups went their separate ways. Cheongsan and Onjo
went to the arcade with I-sak and Gyeong-su. Woojin, Daesu, and Joon-yeong went to watch a
movie that just came out. The girls went to shop in a mall. Suhyeok and Namra walked together
with no destination in mind.

It became something normal for them to always go out after class together. Even their friends
noticed that they spent more time together than with them and teased them for it but they were
never bothered by it.
A little droplet of water fell on Suhyeok’s head and he raised a hand to see if it was raining. The
downpour was almost comically timed as the moment he raised his hand. The rain got stronger and
both he and Namra ran to the closest place they could stay. He removed his blazer as fast as he can
so that he could cover both Namra and himself from the downpour.

They entered a 711 store where Suhyeok tried to dry off his blazer and Namra fished out her
handkerchief to wipe his face just a little bit.

She didn’t get wet all thanks to Suhyeok so this was the least she could do.

“What do you want? It’s on me.” Suhyeok said.

She walked around the isles looking for what she wanted and picked out a box of Pepero and a
samgak kimbap. He got a bento box with a large GULP with Coca-Cola inside since he skipped
lunch to play basketball in the gym with some upper batchmates.

“No drinks?”

She turned to the aisle with drinks inside the fridges and pulled out a simple Lipton Red Iced tea.
She showed it to him and he took it carefully.

They went to the cashier and set the items in an orderly fashion and fished out his wallet. Namra
stood beside him quite closely, he might add. He waited for the cashier to say the amount until
Namra patted his shoulder which drew his attention.

“I’ll find us some seats.” and she gestured to the corner near the entrance. He poked her arm and
handed her his blazer.

“Can you hang it on a chair, please?” Suhyeok mouthed to her.

She nodded in response and also got his bag to carry with her to their spot.

He just nodded in thanks and she went on her merry way.

“250 won.” said the cashier and Suhyeok handed him 300 won.

He pulled out a tray and asked the cashier to heat the meal for him for 3 minutes.

He waited for the meal to finish heating and he saw Namra’s hair by the corner of the cabinet. He
could only guess that she was looking at passing people.

He would look around the counter for anything else and find a nice little lollipop which he handed
to the cashier and paid for. His change was 25 won from all that which was okay he still had 700
left from his monthly allowance.

“Receipt?” asked the cashier and Suhyeok simply just shook his head no in response.

The cashier placed the bento box on the tray and Suhyeok made his way to Namra just closing her
eyes. He placed the tray with both of their food in between them and poked Namra to wake her up a
little.

She stirred and looked at Suhyeok before giving him a half-smile.

“You want some coffee? I can buy you some.” he asked her softly with a tone of concern.

“No, it’s okay. I’ll just sleep early.” She replied in a soft tone. Suhyeok nodded his head and gave
her food to her and set his food down in front of him. He gave the tray back to the cashier and said
thanks. She waited for him before taking a bite and when he got back, they started eating.

The meal was quiet and peaceful.

She ate slowly while he ate like it was his last.

He was terribly hungry, having to use all his energy throughout the afternoon for studying and
playing basketball.

She finished her samgak kimbap first before moving on to eating Pepero. He was eating some parts
of his bento and had some katsu left. He looked at it and looked at her.

“Hey, you want some? It’s really good.”

She looked at his food and looked at him before finally deciding to say yes.

He picked up a piece of katsudon carefully with a hand underneath his chopsticks in the event it
fell down. She opened her mouth a little bit and put a palm open where she received the piece of
the meal without any problems.

She chewed slowly and turned to look at him and nodded.

“It’s good, right?”

Namra moved her Pepero box in the middle of both of them.

“Get some. It’s a fair trade.”

He nodded in thanks and took a few sticks.

They finished their meal after a few minutes and sat there resting. Fully satisfied with the meal
they just had.

They both sat there in silence feeling a bit sleepy from the cold and the meal.

Suhyeok looked at the lollipop he bought and opened it. He licked it slowly and saw Namra
drinking some of her iced tea before finishing it completely.

He looked a bit at her lips and it looked really red from the drink and more plump. “It must be nice
to kiss those-” and completely stopping himself from having those thoughts.

“Hey.”

Suhyeok turned to look at her.

“What flavour is that?” Namra asked.

“Strawberry cream.” Suhyeok replied.

“Do you want a taste or something? I can buy you one.” He followed up his reply with a
suggestion.

“Can I have yours?”

Suhyeok could only freeze for a bit before opening his mouth and removing the lollipop. He
offered it to her and she took it with no complaints.

She kept it in her mouth a bit and Suhyeok acted the calmest he can be while looking directly
outside the window where people passed by. It didn’t really help and he wanted to scream but
couldn’t.

She popped it out of her mouth and licked her lips a bit before handing it back to him.

“It tastes good.” She commented.

He nodded in response and propped it back in his mouth. They would stay there and look at the
passing people and play all types of kids games like “I Spy” while they waited. It was fun and their
energy died down after a while. They both sat in silence and just enjoyed the comfortable
atmosphere they had.

He took a look at Namra and could tell Namra was about to pass out with the way her eyes were
drooping.

"Hey, are you okay? We can go now, you know?" Suhyeok put his hand on softly on her arm to
slowly shake her.

"No it's okay, I didn't sleep too well since I had to study for the quiz today." Namra replied with
closed eyes but an irritated tone.

"Are you happy that sir cancelled it or angry?" Suhyeok asked genuinely.

She looked at him and said "Both, I studied to the point I understand the topic to heart but angry
because I wasted all my time."

Suhyeok nodded in response and replied with "You didn't waste it since now you understand it
perfectly and now you can study more to polish your understanding of the lesson. Win-win.

Namra could only nod in response and told him "We can leave when the rain stops. It's okay, let's
just rest here for a moment."

He didn't object to this idea and said "okay" to her.

Suhyeok wanted to suggest the thought of her sleeping on his shoulder but he was a bit too shy to
even ask the idea. He continued to watch her head fall a little bit downwards and finally had the
courage to ask the question.

“Hey, wanna sleep on my shoulder? You can rest a bit here before we walk home.”

She looked at him and gave it some thought to the point Suhyeok almost panicked and said "if it
isn't okay with you it's fine". However, she replied with something he didn't expect from her at all.
She just nodded and adjusted her seat to be a bit closer to him.

She placed her head on the blade of his shoulder and closed her eyes.

“Thank you.” She said softly.

"This is the highest point of my life, nothing else will top this." Suhyeok thought to himself.

“No need to mention it, I’ll wake you when it’s time to go, okay?” Suhyeok reassured her and
smiled at the comment.
She nodded her head a little bit and dozed off.

He would look at her for a moment and admit she still looked beautiful from whatever angle. He
smiled and just continued drinking his large GULP while watching Namra to make sure her head
doesn't fall off.

Suhyeok and Namra stayed like that until the sky went from the bright colourful afternoon sky to
the dim and dark sky illuminated by bright signs and streetlights.

The sounds of the rain, the bustle of people walking, and the girl sleeping soundly on his shoulder
kept Suhyeok calm and busy.

He was lucky that Namra didn’t have super hearing. He didn’t want her to know how fast and hard
his heart was beating.

End Notes

The scene at the end where Suhyeok and Namra are beside one another is the closest I can
give to an homage to Chungking Express where Qiwu and the woman in the blonde wig are
at the bar.

It was a really good moment from a beautiful movie so I decided to put it as a tribute.
