QUESTION AND PROBLEMS

1. State the general rules that apply to equal resistor in series and equal resistors in parallel.

- All components share the same voltage. Resistances diminish to equal a smaller, total resistance.
Branch currents add to equal a larger, total current. Just as in the case of series circuits, all of these
rules find root in the definition of a parallel circuit.

2. Calculate the value of two resistor R1 and R2 which when connected in series given 50Ω and 8V
in parallel.
3.Give 4 resistors each having a resistance of 100 Ω, show how these resistors might be combined to
produce an equivalent resistance of:
A. 400 Ω
B. 25 Ω
C.100 Ω
D. 40 Ω
E. 250 Ω
F. 75 Ω

4. Three parallel connected resistors when connected across a DC voltage source dissipate a total of 72
watts. The total current drawn by the circuit is 6 A. If the current flowing on the first resistor is 3 A and
the second and third resistors have equal value. What are the resistances of the three resistors?

5. Two heating coils are connected in parallel across a 100V supply takes 10A of current. The power
dissipated in one coil is 600W. What is the resistance of the other coil?
6. The total current drawn by a circuit consisting of three resistors connected in parallel is 12A. the
voltage drop across the first resistor is 12V, the value of the second resistor is 3 Ω and the power
dissipation of the third resistor is 24 W. What are the resistances of the first and third resistors?

7. In the circuit given below, find the resistance between terminals A and B when the switch is (a) open
and (b) closed. Why are the two values equal?
8. For the circuit below, calculate (a) the total equivalent resistance of the network to which the power is
delivered by (b) the battery current.
CONCLUSION:
This experiment effectively showed how the connect series and parallel could transform into the wye
connection and measured the ampere and voltage of that resistance. Based on the topic, it is easy to figure
out because you can see the parallel and series in the figure, and Multisim was used in this process. I
initially struggled to navigate it. However, I managed to get the hang of it after a few minutes. It was fun
to use Multisim, and from that, i enhanced my knowledge about parallel and series
