Project Information

Given the necessary equipment tools, material supplies and information the candidate is expected to
perform the following projects.
Total Time Allowed 3:30

Project One: Design and Develop a database Operation (45 minute)

1. Operate database application

Instruction: - For this task you are given two tables designed below thus you are required to
create field which are indicates a follow

Garment Company has 100 employees. The company would like to have a report that contains
the name. a birth date, Salary and Gender of the employee based on their Educational level
(MA, Masc., BSC, Diploma, Certificate). Assume you are working in that company’s IT
Department and expected to design and develop a database according to the requirement. The
database expected to have the following features and on Desktop face.

 Employ List Entry Form

 Query on employee with their educational level
 Report of employees categorized by their education
 Filter Employee List table categorized by Education BSC and save as BSC Person
The Candidate is expected to design and develop a database which has all the features and
function stated above using Microsoft Office Access 2007

Project Two: - Installation and Administration of Network (60 minute)

Project information: - On this project you are going to network two computers doing to configuration.
As an IT support technician you are also required to identify the required materials, install,
administrator and maintain the network.

This Project covers the following unit of competencies

1. Administrative network and Hardware Peripherals

2. Care for Network and Computer Hardware
3. Use And Access Internet
4. Implementing Maintenance Procedures

Task 1:- prepare the working environment material needed

Instruction: - under this task you are expected to list the required materials, check functionality and
make care according to manufacture standards. Document activities as follows

Task 2:-Configure a simple Local Area Network (LAN) which consists of two computers and a network
printer using Hub.

Note: you need to prepare appropriate cable for your network.

 Give an IP Address for PC A and PC B Computer
 Give default gateway address for both of the computer

Task 3:- Configured/add the network printer in both computers

Project Three: - Access and Use Internet (30 minute)

Task1:-Using internet connection available in your computer
 Open Internet browser(internet explorer, Mozilla Firefox, opera or any other)
 Browse Ethiopian Government Portal (www.oromianews.gov.oro),and make it default
homepages
 Browse and Bookmark the website of the Ethiopian Report Newspaper and Ethiopian Airlines.
Task2:- Using Known search engine find and download an audio and video driver for the optiplex gx620
which has a windows vista and windows XP Operating System installed.

Task 3:- Create and Manage E-mail account

Instruction: - Under this task you are expected to create Google mail account for user and give on job
training on how to use it.

Project Four:- Care for Network and Demonstrate Computer Hardware component (60 minute)
Task 1:- Disassemble the PC’s major component (Processor, RAM, Hard disk, NIC, CD-Rom and power
and data cables)

Task 2:- Demonstrate each hardware component function and Reassemble the system unit by
installing system component as require function and correctly.

Task 3:-The Specification Document that you are expected to produce may contain but are not limited
to the following information.

 Processor type and speed

 Capacity of Memory
 CD-ROM type
 Operating system installed
 Hard Disk Capacity
 Hard Disk type

Hint: You must be wearing Safety cloth Take the specification of the computer that you are working
as reference
