Indonesian Police System
Overall, the medical and physical examination has two
main objectives:
* The first one is to make sure that the candidates' health
and physical condition will not harm them when admitted
into police force.
* Secondly, it is to make sure that they do not possess any
communicable diseases that will not allow them to perform
maximally as trained police personnel.
PROMOTION
Advanced training in vocational and technical
subjects was available for regular police, for
NCOs, and for officers. Promotions were
often based on performance in advanced
education. The Police Command and Staff
School offered advanced training to police
officers assigned to command units at the
subdistrict, district, and Polda level. Training
there focused on administration and logistics.
ORGANIZATION
Polri has centralized command and divided into
territorial forces:
Kepolisian Daerah or Polda
Kepolisian Resort or Porles
Kepolisian Sektor or Polsek
Kepolisian Wilayah or Polwil/Polmas
Provincial Police Commands
(POLDA)
Cover provinces. All provincial police are divided into
three streams:
A1- Special command for the province of
Jakarta ( POLDA METRO JAYA )
B1- Demographic large provinces.
B2- smaller provinces
Structure of POLDA
Directorates of Detectives, Narcotics, Traffic Police,
Intelligence, and Specialist Operational Unit.
Support reattachments like the Benamera (Social
Relation Police)
District Commands
(POLRES)
for districts. Polres is in essence the backbone of
the Indonesian Police, because it bridges the
operational units, with the higher planning/
strategic elements of the police structure. Polres
has substantial autonomy to implement it’s own
activities and mount its own operations.

addiction to Opsnal.
Community Police Officers
(Polmas)
serve individual villages.
In the Jabodetabek area, the territorial
forces are known as either “Polres
Metro” or Polsek Metro”. The highest
rank in any of the forces is known as
POLDA METRO JAYA.
There are also some special branches:
Brigade Mobil or Brimob (mobile brigade)
Polisi Udara or Air Police
Polisi Air or Marine Police

Wakapolri
Second highest ranking officer in the Indonesian police.
Itwasum
The third highest ranking officer in the Indonesian
police.
