MEC121 General Thermodynamics and Heat Transfer

Course Credit: 3 units (3 hours lecture per week)

Delivery Mode: Flexible
Prerequisite: Physics for Engineers & Calculus with Analytic Geometry II
Co-requisite: None

Course Objectives:
1. To have fundamental understanding of the laws of thermodynamics and those properties
of substances that bear relation to thermodynamics.
2. To enable the student to use thermodynamic relations and determine properties through
tables and charts for the analysis of certain thermodynamic system applications.
3. Ability to demonstrate application of thermodynamic principles to design analysis, and
optimization of the basic energy conversion systems.
4. Being able to apply thermodynamic principles in areas of sustainable development.
