INCIDENT NARRATIVE
On 09/16/2020 I, Ofc. A. Jones, was dispatched to 1565 Linda Way SW. I was
responding to a large tree that fell thought a home with persons trapped inside. Fire
Engine 14, 25, 17 and Fire Engine 7 responded to the scene. Atlanta Fire Rescue
attempted to remove the tree from the home to check for anyone inside the and found
Mr. Gerald Crawford inside the home pinned under the tree and debris from the home
unresponsvise. Mr. Gerald Crawford had injuries to his back, to his head and a fracture
on his write wrist. Ms. Cythia Crawford was notified of Mr. Gerald's Crawford death.
Fulton County Medical Examiner, ME Unit 11, Inv. Saldana, responded to the scene
and transported Mr. Gerald Crawford deceased body to the Fulton County Medical
Center. (see Fulton Co. case # 2020-01978 for further). Sgt. K. Johnson was notified
and on scene.

STATION 17 TERRITORY: DISPATCHED TO THIS LOCATION ON A POSSIBLE TREE DOWN ON A HOUSE WITH
PEOPLE TRAPPED. UPON ARRIVAL TO THE SCENE, I ASSUMED COMMAND AND ACCOUNTABILITY FROM
ENGINE 17 AND DETERMINED CRITICAL FACTORS ON A LARGE TREE THAT FELL DURING HEAVY RAIN AND
STRUCK A OCCUPIED SINGLE FAMILY DWELLING WITH COMPLETE ROOF COLLAPSE. CRITICAL FACTORS
WERE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
~ LIFE SAFETY
~ POWER LINES DOWN ON THE ALPHA/DELTA CORNER
~ TOTAL ROOF COLLAPSE
~ REPORTED OF POSSIBLY 3 PEOPLE TRAPPED INSIDE
~ OLDER HOME WITH POSSIBLE INSTABILITY DUE TO BEING IMPACTED BY THE LARGE TREE
~ ONLY ABLE TO COMPLETE A PARTIAL 360 DUE TO POWER LINES AND TREE IMPACT ON THE DELTA
~ EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (EAP) WHEREBY 3 CLINICIAN CAME TO THE SCENE AND A BRIEF
AFTER ACTIONS WERE CONDUCTED.

~ ASSISTANT CHIEF OF SAFETY STEPHEN HILL CAME TO THE SCENE ON HIS OWN ACCORD TO PROVIDE
ASSISTANCE
OPERATIONS, SAFETY AND MYSELF CAME UP WITH A INCIDENT ACTION PLAN TO ADDRESS THE
FOLLOWING:
~ STRUCTURAL STABILITY TO ACCESS THE HOME AND COMPLETE A PRIMARY SEARCH (DETERMINE 2
PEOPLE WERE INSIDE THE STRUCTURE
~ 1 VICTIM (UNCLE) NEEDING EXTRICATION WAS REMOVED, PACKAGED AND PATIENT CARE WAS
TRANSFERRED TO GRADY UNIT 776 FOR TRANSPORT.
~ 2ND PATIENT WAS LATER FOUND UNDERNEATH A THE LARGE TREE LOCATED APPROXIMATELY IN THE
CENTER OF THE HOME AND WAS DECEASED BUT NEEDING EXTRICATION.
VICTIMS PERSONAL ITEMS WERE FOUND AND GIVEN TO THE FULTON COUNTY MEDICAL EXAMINER WERE;
~ A CELL PHONE
~ KEYS
~ OTHER PERSONAL ITEMS
AFTER VICTIM WAS REMOVED, AFRD UNITS ASSISTED THE MEDICAL EXAMINER WITH GETTING THE VICTIM
TO THE VAN, PACKAGING FOR TRANSPORT AND LOADING.
~ DEBRIS REMOVAL ONCE A VICTIM WAS FOUND
AFTER VICTIM WAS REMOVED AND THE MEDICAL DIRECTOR WAS ASSISTED, WE DEMOBILIZE AND ALL
UNITS WERE RELEASED BACK TO SERVICE.
