Research Title: The effectiveness of the antibacterial properties of santan leaves (ixora

coccinea) against S. Aureus

Research Context: The properties of santan leaves (ixora coccinea) is known for its rich
antibacterial properties to fight most bacterias. One of the most studied micro-organisms in the
field of medicine is S. Aureus, an infectious pathogen that causes diseases such as, pneumonia
and skin infections. The properties of santan leaves could help prevent the spread or eradicate
S. Aureus.
Research Questions: Does santan leaves (ixora coccinea) have the properties to prevent or
eradicate S. Aureus? Will the santan leaves (ixora coccinea) be effective or feasible against S.
Aureus?
Research Methodology: Santan leaves will be obtained from shrubs, then the leaves will be
grinded using a mortar and pestle, the grounded extracts will now be used against the selected
micro-organism which is S. Aureus to test if santan leaves (ixora coccinea) are effective against
it.
Significance of the study: This study will test if the antibacterial properties of santan leaves
(ixora coccinea) is effective against the micro-organism, S. Aureus and if it is highly effective
against it.
