Govt makes passport mandatory for taking bank loans of Rs. 50 crore
and above
 For all existing loans of over 50 crore rupees, banks have been
asked to collect passport details of borrowers within 45 days.
 Last week, the Cabinet has approved the Fugitive Economic
Offenders Bill to impound and sell assets of escapees with a view to
quickly recover dues.
 The proposed law will also apply to defaulters who have an
outstanding of Rs 100 crore or more and have escaped from the
country.

India, France sign pact for mutual recognition of educational


qualifications
 India and France have agreed to mutually recognize academic
qualifications to help students.
 First high level ‘India-France Knowledge Summit 2018’ held at
Pravasi Bharatiya Bhawan in New Delhi on Saturday.
 A new initiative called ‘Study in India’ to be launched to attract
more students from other countries to India.
 Total 14 MoUs/Agreements signed during the State Visit of President
of France, Emmanuel Macron’s to India (March 10, 2018)

Investment Bank (EIB) sign Euro 150 million Loan Agreement for
Renewable Energy Financing in India
 More than 1.1 million households are expected to benefit from
clean energy produced with these funds.
 Note – India’s renewable enrgy target is 175 GW by 2022.

Suresh Prabhu gets additional charge of Civil Aviation Ministry


 Commerce and Industries Minister Suresh Prabhu has been
assigned the additional charge of the Civil Aviation Ministry.
 The post had fallen vacant after President Ram Nath Kovind
accepted the resignation of Telugu Desam Party's Ashok Gajapathi
Raju.

Ex samvedna - Multilateral air Exercise (MAE) from 12-16 Mar 18

 It is conducted by Southern Air Command (SAC)


 ‘Samvedna’ means ‘Empathy’ and will ensure better understanding
and sharing of response procedures between a number of friendly
neighbouring nations.
 Air Forces of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE and Myanmar have
already committed resources and personnel for the exercise.
 Few other Air Forces from the region are also expected to join in.

 Also, Australia is the current World champions in Hockey
 Australia have now won the prestigious tournament for the 10th
time.
 Argentina finished third after beating Malaysia 3-2.
