4.Remove the remote handle lever from the trunk side trim.(See TRUNK SIDE TRIM
REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
5.Press the tab in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure to disengage it, and open the upper part of
the case in the direction of arrow (2).

7.Remove the remote cable on the remote handle lever side from the clip.
9.Pull the remote handle lever and verify that the rear seat back is unlocked.
• If any of the rear seat backs does not unlock, or it is hard to unlock or lock, adjust the remote cable.

Note
• Adjust the remote cable of a seat which has the following malfunctions.
― Hard to unlock
― Hard to lock
3.Press the tab in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure to disengage it, and open the upper part of
the case in the direction of arrow (2).
Caution
• If the remote cable adjustment groove is moved excessively, the remote cable will be put in a pulled
condition in the unlock direction and it may not be possible to unlock the rear seat back. When
adjusting the remote cable, move the position of the adjustment groove one step at a time while
verifying the lock condition of the rear seat back.
6.Move the rear seat back to its upright position and verify that the red indication cannot be seen on the
push knob.

Note
• If red indication can seen on the push knob, it indicates that the seat back is not locked securely or
unlocked.
7.Pull the remote handle lever and verify that the rear seat back is unlocked.
• If the rear seat back does not unlock, or it is hard to unlock or lock, move the remote cable
adjustment groove one step more.

Caution
• When performing the procedure with a rear seat cushion removed from the vehicle, perform the
procedure on a clean cloth so as not to damage or soil the seat.
Removal
1.Remove the rear seat cushion. (See REAR SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2.Remove C-rings.
Caution
• If a C-ring is damaged while removing or installing the rear seat cushion trim and rear seat cushion
pad, it may not be possible to install the rear seat cushion trim and rear seat cushion pad normally.
When removing or installing the rear seat cushion trim and rear seat cushion pad, be careful not to
damage the C-rings.
Note
3.Remove the rear seat cushion trim from the rear seat cushion pad.
Installation
1.Align the rear seat cushion trim with the installation hole of the rear seat cushion pad, and install the C-
rings.

2.Press the rear seat cushion pad inward while pulling the rear seat cushion trim outward.
3.Align the rear seat cushion trim with the installation hole of the rear seat cushion pad, and install the C-
rings in the order shown in the figure.
Caution
• If a C-ring is damaged while removing or installing the rear seat cushion trim and rear seat cushion
pad, it may not be possible to install the rear seat cushion trim and rear seat cushion pad normally.
When removing or installing the rear seat cushion trim and rear seat cushion pad, be careful not to
damage the C-rings.
Note
• The position and number of C-rings differ depending on the type of seat.
• Wrinkling can be easily prevented by installing the C-rings with a certain amount of tightening.

4.Align the rear seat cushion trim with the shape of the rear seat cushion pad while pressing the rear seat
cushion pad outward.

1.While moving the rear seat cushion lock levers in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure, lift up
the rear seat cushion in the direction of arrows (2) and detach the rear seat cushion from the rear seat
cushion lock.

2.While pulling the rear seat cushion up in the direction of the arrow (1) shown in the figure, move it in the
direction of arrow (2) and detach the rear seat cushion from the hook.

5.Remove the C-rings in the order shown in the figure and remove the rear seat back trim from the rear
seat back pad.
Caution
• If a C-ring is damaged while removing or installing the rear seat back trim and rear seat back pad, it
may not be possible to install the rear seat back trim and rear seat back pad normally. When
removing or installing the rear seat back trim and rear seat back pad, be careful not to damage the C-
rings.
Note
• The position and number of C-rings differ depending on the type of seat.
Installation
1.Align the rear seat back trim with the installation hole of the rear seat back pad and install the C-rings in
the order shown in the figure.

Caution

Note
• When removing the rear seat back from the vehicle or putting it back in, it can be performed easier
by removing the headrest.
5.Open the surface fastener and partially peel back the rear seat back trim.
8.Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Rear Seat Back Installation Note.)
Caution
• When installing the rear seat back, move the rear seat back toward the inside of the vehicle so that
the rear seat back trim does not interfere with the crimped part of the rear seat hinge. Otherwise, it
could damage the rear seat back trim.

8.Remove the seat belt cover in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure while setting hooks aside.
9.Remove the hooks and tabs and remove the recliner lever
10.Release the pole guide tabs in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure, then pull the pole guide
out in the direction of arrow (2).
11.Lift the rear seat back trim and the rear seat back pad as a single unit and remove them from the rear
seat back frame.

• If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the front seat, the front seat
will operate accidentally while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serious injury. After
assembling the front seat, shake it up and down and verify that the sliding mechanism on the both
sides are locked. (With manual seat)
Caution
• After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled
with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front
seat, do not operate the slider lever. (With manual seat)
• Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit
after installing a front seat.
• When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure
on a clean cloth so as not to damage or soil the seat.
2.Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY
TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
3.Pull the power seat switch knob in the direction of the arrow (1) shown in the figure, and remove it while
disengaging tabs A and B.
4.Pull the power seat switch knob in the direction of the arrow (2) shown in the figure, and remove it while
disengaging tabs C and D.

6.Pull up the front seat side cover in the direction of the arrow (3) shown in the figure and set hook F
aside.

11.Set the wiring harness aside from hooks K and L, and remove the front seat side cover in the direction

15.When the passenger's seat is removed, perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module using
the M-MDS and verify that no DTCs are displayed. (See DTC INSPECTION [SAS CONTROL MODULE

16.When the passenger's seat is replaced with a new one, perform the occupant classification sensor
calibration using the M-MDS. (See OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR CALIBRATION [TWO-
STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM - US/CANADA SPEC.] .)
Caution
• The seat back folds forward when the recliner knob is operated. Be careful when operating the
recliner lever.
2.Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY
TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
3.Move the flathead screwdriver wrapped in protective tape in the direction of the arrow (1) shown in the
figure and disengage tab A.

5.Remove the recliner lever knob in the direction of the arrow (3) shown in the figure.

7.Using a wood slab, tap the end of the lifter lever knob with the plastic hammer and remove it in the

• If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the front seat, the front seat
will operate accidentally while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serious injury. After
assembling the front seat, shake it up and down and verify that the sliding mechanism on the both
sides are locked.
Caution
• After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled
with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front
seat, do not operate the slider lever.
• Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit
after installing a front seat.
• When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure
on a clean cloth so as not to damage or dirty the seat.
Note
• When removing the front seat from the vehicle or putting it back in, it can be performed smoothly by
removing the head restraint.
2.Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY

3.Slide the lock in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, and while pressing the tab in the direction
of arrow (2), disconnect the connector in the direction of arrow (3).

• If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the front seat, the front seat
will operate accidentally while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serious injury. After
assembling the front seat, shake it up and down and verify that the sliding mechanism on the both
sides are locked. (With manual seat)
Caution
• After the front seat has been removed, if the slider lever is operated and the front seat is reinstalled
with the left/right slide positions deviated, the adjuster unit could be damaged. After removing a front
seat, do not operate the slider lever. (With manual seat)

• Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit
after installing a front seat.
• When performing the procedure with a front seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure
on a clean cloth so as not to damage or dirty the seat.
Removal
5.Remove the front seat side cover. (See FRONT SEAT SIDE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6.Remove the fasteners and set the front seat cushion trim away from the front seat cushion frame. (With
power seat system/with position memory system)
7.Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and set the front seat cushion trim
away from the front seat cushion frame. (Without power seat system/without position memory system)
9.Move the front seat cushion trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and set the front seat
cushion trim away from the front seat cushion frame.
10.Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and set the front seat cushion trim
away from the front seat cushion frame.

11.Follow the procedure for each type and set the front seat cushion trim away from the front seat
cushion frame.
Note
• There are two types of hooks on the front side of the front seat cushion trim, A and B types. The
hook removal procedure differs depending on the type.
A type
1. Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and set the front seat cushion
trim away from the front seat cushion frame.

2. Remove the hooks shown in the figure from the front seat cushion frame.
B type
• Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and set the front seat cushion
trim away from the front seat cushion frame.

12.Remove C-rings shown in the figure, and remove the front seat cushion trim from the front seat
cushion pad.
Caution
• If a C-ring is damaged while removing or installing the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion
pad, it may not be possible to install the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion pad normally.
When removing or installing the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion pad, be careful not to
damage the C-rings.
Note
• The position and number of C-rings differ depending on the type of seat.
Installation
1.Align the front seat cushion trim with the installation hole of the front seat cushion pad, and install the C-
rings shown in the figure.
Caution
• If a C-ring is damaged while removing or installing the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion
pad, it may not be possible to install the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion pad normally.
When removing or installing the front seat cushion trim and front seat cushion pad, be careful not to
damage the C-rings.
Note
• Wrinkling can be easily prevented by installing the C-rings with a certain amount of tightening.

• The position and number of C-rings differ depending on the type of seat.
2.Press the front seat cushion pad inward while pulling the front seat cushion trim outward.
3.Follow the procedure for each type and install the front seat cushion trim to the front seat cushion
frame.
Note
• There are two types of hooks on the front side of the front seat cushion trim, A and B types. The
hook installation procedure differs depending on the type.

2. Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and install the front seat
cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame.

B type
1. Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and install the front seat
cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame.
4.Move the front seat cushion trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and install the front
seat cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame.

5.Align the front seat cushion trim with the shape of the front seat cushion pad while pressing the front
seat cushion pad outward.
6.Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and install the front seat cushion
trim to the front seat cushion frame

7.Pull the front seat cushion trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove the wrinkles
on the front seat cushion trim.
8.Install the fasteners and install the front seat cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame. (With power
seat system/with position memory system)
9.Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and install the front seat cushion
trim to the front seat cushion frame. (Without power seat system/without position memory system)
11.Install the front seat side cover. (See FRONT SEAT SIDE COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Warning
• Handling a front seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the
air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual

Removal
1.Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY
TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
4.Remove the fasteners and set the front seat cushion trim away from the front seat cushion frame. (With
power seat system)

5.Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and set the front seat cushion trim
away from the front seat cushion frame. (Without power seat system)

8.Move hook A in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and detach it from hook B.
10.Peel back the front seat back trim and unhook the hooks.

11.While pressing the tabs in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure, pull the pole guides in the
direction of arrow (2) and remove the pole guides from the front seat back frame.
12.Pull out the pin in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure.
13.Move the remover tool in the direction of arrows (2) shown in the figure, pull the clip in the direction of
arrow (3) with the tabs pressed, and remove the side air bag module securing belt from the front seat
back frame.
14.Pull the wiring harnesses shown in the figure out through the holes in the front seat back pad.

16.Lift up the front seat back trim and front seat back pad in the direction of the arrow as a single unit and
remove it from the front seat back frame.

17.Remove the C-rings, and then remove the front seat back trim from the front seat back pad.
Caution
• If a C-ring is damaged while removing or installing the front seat back trim and front seat back pad,
it may not be possible to install the front seat back trim and front seat back pad normally. When
removing or installing the front seat back trim and front seat back pad, be careful not to damage the
C-rings.
Note
• The position and number of C-rings differ depending on the type of seat.
Installation
1.Install the C-rings by aligning the C-ring installation holes of the front seat back trim and the front seat
back pad.
Caution
• If a C-ring is damaged while removing or installing the front seat back trim and front seat back pad,
it may not be possible to install the front seat back trim and front seat back pad normally. When
removing or installing the front seat back trim and front seat back pad, be careful not to damage the
C-rings.
Note
• The position and number of C-rings differ depending on the type of seat.

• Wrinkling can be easily prevented by installing the C-rings with a certain amount of tightening.
2.Press the front seat back pad inward while pulling the front seat back trim outward.
3.Install the front seat back trim and the front seat back pad as a single unit to the front seat back frame.

4.Pull out the front seat back pad, front seat back trim, and front seat back warmer wiring harness (with
seat warmer system) rearward of the front seat.
5.Pass the wiring harnesses shown in the figure through the holes in the front seat back pad.

6.Move the clip in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure and install the side air bag module
securing belt to the front seat back frame.
7.Press the pin in the direction of arrow (2) shown in the figure.

11.Align the front seat back trim with the shape of the front seat back pad while pressing the front seat
back pad outward.
12.Pull the front seat back trim in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and remove the wrinkles
on the front seat back trim.

13.Move hook A in the direction of the arrow shown in the figure and install it to hook B.
16.Install the fasteners and install the front seat cushion trim to the front seat cushion frame. (With power
seat system/with position memory system)
17.Move the hook in the order of arrows (1) and (2) shown in the figure and install the front seat cushion
trim to the front seat cushion frame. (Without power seat system/without position memory system)
