Introduction
Operation management module can be considered as one of the important module which deals with various operational issues and department activities. In every organization an experienced person wing will be allocated for the operational management. Every time operation management department will be in full conscious in order to avoid the operational problems and also the related issues. In this analysis I am going to discuss about the operational management problems related with a drinks manufacturer in India. The company is started its operation in early 1980 as a small unit. Golden drinks and Co, it is started its operation in Bangalore which is in the state of Karnataka in India. It started its operation in the early 1980 and grew up to a competitive level within a short span of time. Company has shown rapid growth in the market while comparing with the competitors through one of its major product called Golden drink, which is a soft drink in mango flavor. This drink became very much popularized among the young segmented customers due to its original taste of mango. Golden drink is promoted with the help of a famous celebritys advertisement initially, which attracted the customers towards the product. Company became a famous all over India during the year 1990 to 2000 even though it was situated in Bangalore. Company increased its sale year by year from 10 million to 50 million in 10 years, and also expanded the business into other states .It started its new manufacturing unit in Tamilnadu in the Sivakashi district in the year 1998.This was a great challenge for the company due to the several competitors in that state. Even though because of its taste and also the popularities overall in India, company started to show the growth within short span of time. Company became famous in the states through the effective strategic and also operational management. Even though it has more than 20 years experience in the field of drinks manufacturing, company faced with some operational problems during the time 2003 o 2004. The operational problems rose in the manufacturing unit in Sivakashi, but its affected its overall sale. The operational department which is really treated as effective and efficient

became a failure through the carelessness of the department. Company faced with some quality issues of the product and also the use of some hazardous products for the manufacturing. This problem really affected the monetary value of the company and also the band name and also its growth. Even though the problem rose in the Sivakashi unit, companys overall growth is affected by the problem of the operation department.

Problem Faced By the Company

In order to increase the sale, company started to prepare more than 30% extra products in each day in the manufacturing unit. It affected the product quality very much through the reduction of some components and also by the use of some physically hazardous products for increasing the expiry date. Inspection team found out the hazardous product from the company and the company is legally prosecuted due to the lack of health and safety quality control. The importance which gave for increasing sale decreased the maintaining of product quality and also the health and safety limit introduced by the Govt. The finding out of the chemical which is hazardous popularized through several Medias very quickly. It affected the name of the company in both states and among all the customers. Company products started to ban in most of the distributors outlets and the advertisement of the product is really banned everywhere. Company growth is suddenly stopped and it lost more than 80% of its existing customers. Companys existing customers really stopped the use of the drinks and they banned the use of the drink by their friends and also colleagues.

Process Map
Company manufacturing process includes various stages like manufacturing, transferring, packing, storing and also delivering. It is necessary to analyze the various operations involved in different units (Joel, 1999).

Storing

Process Map Manufacturing: In the manufacturing unit, company uses various ingredients for the preparation of the drinks. Various ingredients used are mango essence, water, sweeteners and carbonated products. While mixing all these products company used adequate caring in order to prepare the best quality products. The water used for the preparation is ensured as the water without any impurity. Transferring: This section consists of transferring of the manufactured product into the packing house very carefully in order to avoid the contact with any other chemicals or products, no any chemicals will be added at this time. Then it is carefully took for the packing and them without any missing of any further compounds, it transfer to the respected cans for the packing. Each step is followed by necessary quality control within the company to ensure the product quality (Joel, 1999). Packaging: This section includes the packing of drinks into the cans and also bottle according to the quantity needed for each bottle. Advanced machines are used in this stage to avoid the contact with the any other impurities and human hands. This step also needs to be done with adequate caring and quality. Air tight packing will be done for all the bottles without any leaks to avoid getting contaminated through the contact with the air. Carbonating of the drinks are done here with the necessary machines and quality control.

Storage: This section includes the storing of packed products within the company at the appropriate temperature to maintain the quality and also the taste of the products. Storing unit is carefully maintained without any presence of insects, impurities and other small animals. Each and every time company is ensuring about the quality maintaining with adequate actions and necessary atmosphere.

Relevant theories
Relevant theories are needed to be analyses for getting a perfect idea about the problems faced by the company and also to evaluate the depth of these issues in the company practices. Various theories and models which can help to analyze the operational practices can be discussed here.

Total quality management (TQM)

Total quality management is very much important in the operation department of any of the organisation in order to make up with the quality standards needed for the company. However it is necessary to ensure the total quality management within the company by Golden drinks in order to ensure their operational standard. So that Golden drinks has to be take additional care to ensure the TQM practice within the company. Thus to ensure the necessary quality, Golden drinks need to use the standard TQM practice (Ahley, 2008). Identification: There must be necessary analysis to identify the problems within the company; identification of problems can provide overall idea about the problems associated with the company and also the necessary steps to evaluate company level. Identification of problems can be done using several technical tools like fish bone, cause and effect and also Pareto analysis. These tools can help to identify the problems with its cause in a listed manner (Ahley, 2008).

Analysis: After the identification of the problems in a listed manner it is easy to analyze the problem. Problems can be study very easily through this listed manner presentation. Analysis of the problem must be with adequate care then only it is possible to measure the problems depth and then only it is possible to solve the problem systematically. Systematic problem analysis can be done with the Pareto analysis techniques which can provide a systematic way of understanding and analyzing the problems by making it as small segments. Generating Ideas: Generation of ideas is very much important for solving the problem which is really depend on the ability of the persons involved in the company. Generation of ideas is really depending upon the persons involved in it and also their effective communication and efficient capacity. Based on the ability of the team ideas will be generated and it is then providing to the next stage which is the testing stage for getting the outcome of the result. Testing Ideas: Same as the Generation of ideas, it is important to get the result of these ideas after testing it practically. After getting the ideas, they will be tested in order to analyze whether these are helpful or not to solve the problems. But some ideas are not able to test because its result wont get instantly, it may be a continuous process, so that ideas will not be tested it will be carefully analyzed for understanding the gradual change. Testing of ideas will be done before the implementation stage for understanding the impacts and also the outcome of the idea implementation. Implementing Ideas Implementing of the ideas will be done after the pilot study, survey and other feedback test within the period of time. Implementing of the ideas will be done very carefully for getting the best results. These results are carefully evaluated in order to measure the effects of the idea implementation and also the effects of it in the company atmosphere.

Checking the Results: Checking of results are very much essential to make the necessary analysis of the after effects of the generated ideas and also its various forms. Total Quality management must be adequate within the company to ensure the quality standards. Essential quality standard are needed in order to withstand in the market through any necessary changes. Quality checking and the standard meeting is the major area need to be considered by the company (Ahley, 2008).

Fish bone diagram

Fish bone diagram is a tool which helps to analyze the problems associated with the company with its cause and also effects in a listed manner. Fish bone diagram is represented in a manner of fish bone structure. In this, branches will be filled with the cause of the problems in a priority base. Pictorial representation of the problems and the causes is done through the fish bone diagram. Bones of the fish which is represented as the causes of the main problems are dented in the diagram. Golden company and co have various processing stages, Manufacturing: In the manufacturing unit, company uses various ingredients for the preparation of the drinks. Various ingredients used are mango essence, water, sweeteners and carbonated products. Transferring: This section consists of transferring of the manufactured product into the packing house very carefully in order to avoid the contact with any other chemicals or products, no any chemicals will be added at this time. Packaging: This section includes the packing of drinks into the cans and also bottle according to the quantity needed for each bottle. Advanced machines are used in this stage to avoid the contact with the any other impurities and human hands. Storage: This section includes the storing of packed products within the company at the appropriate temperature to maintain the quality and also the taste of the products (Gordon, 2010). While defining the various problems using fishbone this it is necessary to consider each step and listed them sing the fish bone diagram.

So the above fish bone diagram shows that company facing issues from the ingredients and also the packing and storing section. Some problems due to the human carelessness is also resulting inside the company which is need to be addressed for resolving the problems.

Theory in Practice
The fish bone diagram and also the TQM techniques provided some idea about the basic problem which is associated with the company. Pictorial representation of the problems and the causes is done through the fish bone diagram. Bones of the fish which is represented as the causes of the main problems are dented in the diagram. Even though there may be some loop holes in the theory which is due to the unavailability of the information within the company (Ahley, 2008). Golden drinks and Co tells about their well trained staffs and also the adequate technical section for the operation management within the company. But through the analysis it is clear that they are really failed to produce sufficient training knowledge for the staffs which result them to unaware about the need of sufficient quality control which need to take out while working in the company. Employees are not with the knowledge of the after effects of the quality problem which results due to some of the operational variations and also some ingredients variation (Joel, 1999). Company reports about the special quality control which took place in the storage section in order to ensure the hygienic condition and also to avoid the contamination problems .But the analysis results that there was not any adequate operational techniques to control the neatness and also to avoid the presence of impurities and insects. During the time of inspection in the

company, storage room shows the presence of rats and some other insects, which is the most prime evidence to show the in efficiency of the operational department. Storage area temperatures were not in a balanced condition due to the electric variation due to the insufficient wiring and also the necessary equipments in the place. Storage area was purely not designed up to the quality level. Most of the staffs working in that area were not with adequate knowledge about the importance of keeping the drinks in sufficient temperature and without the presence of impurities. Company inspector finds out the chemically hazardous compound presence in the drinks which results them to face the legal actions. The presence of chemical hazardous was the result of increasing the expiry date of the drink, but the chemical was not adequate for the human body. This imbalance in the compound affected the quality of the product. But the use of these chemicals was banned by the Govt. already which was not up to the knowledge the persons involved in that department. The research and development team of the company was not sufficient to provide the necessary information for the employees to make up the product quality. The temperature variations in the storage room affected the drinks due to the chemical reaction which took place in a temperature which is lesser than the allowable temperature. So that most of the drinks were contaminated which were not rejected before the delivery. This also affected the companies product quality and made issues among the customers. Packaging section also shows in adequate quality standard in the sense of use of aluminum coated cans which are not capable to resist with the drinks chemical reaction, this also introduced problems for the product quality due to the mixing of aluminum compound with the drink.

Impact on quality
Golden drinks and Co started its operation in Bangalore which is in the state of Karnataka in India. It started its operation in the early 1980 and grew up to a competitive level within a short span of time. Company became a famous all over India during the year 1990 to 2000 even though it was situated in Bangalore. Company increased its sale year by year from 10 million to 50 million in

10 years, and also expanded the business into other states Even though it has more than 20 years experience in the field of drinks manufacturing, company faced with some operational problems during the time 2003 o 2004.Company faced with some quality issues of the product and also the use of some hazardous products for the manufacturing (GordonJoseph, 2010). Media popularization of the issues effected the company reputation and the brand name very quickly. Customers really banned the product use and the distributers are closed the selling of the companys product. Lots of the schools and also the colleges in India banned the product completely for more than a year. Children are really restricted from the use of the company products by the families and parents due to the after effects of drinking the products. Even though the problem was occurring in their Sivakshi unit it also affected the customers in the Karnataka too. Company forced to shut done their Sivakshi unit temporarily by the Govt. Notice.

Recommendations
Some recommendations are provided here with the help of theories and models. The theories and also the model which used above helped to analyze the problem by finding out the necessary solution and recommendations. Recommendations which are needed to make practically can be listed here: In the above analysis section it is shows that the temperature variations in the storage room affected the drinks due to the chemical reaction which took place in a temperature which is lesser than the allowable temperature. Most of the drinks were contaminated which were not rejected before the delivery. This also affected the companies product quality and made issues among the customers. Analysis shows that it is due to the negligence of the persons who all are the part

of company manufacturing unit. This shows that they were not well trained about the knowledge of importance to keep the drinks effectively under the necessary temperature level. Staffs need to be well trained to understand the after effects in the drink due to the temperature variation (Joel, 1999). Company needs adequate caring to ensure that the water they are used for the preparation of the drink is purified one and not with the presence of any impurities. Then only company can ensure the quality of the product which is making with product. The machines which are used for the purification process and also for packing must in adequate quality level in the sense by ensuring the proper functioning of the respected machines. Slight variation in the machine functioning may result high after effects which need to be discussed with the staffs who supervise the tasks. The fish bone diagram shows about the man made mistakes which may take place while adding the carbonate products at the time of packing of the drink. So the increasing of a lesser quality of the products can cause the bigger effects in the drink due to the chemical reaction. So that it is need to be identify the personal mistakes whether is it inspirational or due to carelessness. If it is shows as an inspirational, company management need to take adequate steps to make the necessary actions against the persons, or else company has to provide sufficient training for the persons to understand the need of their necessary care towards their work. Packaging section also shows in adequate quality standard in the sense of use of aluminum coated cans which are not capable to resist with the drinks chemical reaction, this also introduced problems for the product quality due to the mixing of aluminum compound with the drink. So that company has to provide the adequate qualitative packing of the drinks to avoid the chemical reaction inside the cans due to the coating which used inside. Before proceeding to the delivery company has to provide sufficient checking for the packaging section and also the bottles used for the packaging (Joel, 1999).

Conclusion
Operation management module can be considered as one of the important module which deals with various operational issues and department activities. In this analysis I am discussed about

the operational management problems related with a drinks manufacturer in India. Golden drinks and Co, it is started its operation in Bangalore which is in the state of Karnataka in India.
