Film review "The Girl with the pearl earring"

"The Girl with the pearl earring " is filmed, based on the novel with the
same name by Tracy Chevalier, in 2003, directed by Peter Webber. Starring Colin
Firth, Scarlett Johansson, Tom Wilkinson, Judy Parfitt and others.
The film takes place in the Netherlands in the XVII century. In the center of
the plot is a young girl from a poor family, Grit, who begins working as a servant
in the family of the famous artist Jan Vermeer.
The girl interests and fascinates the artist and he initiates her into the world
of art and painting, introducing her to the concepts of light and shadow, talking
about the color palette and Grit becomes Jan's personal assistant in the art craft.
The girl becomes the artist's muse and inspires him to paint a portrait. Jan
portrays Grit like a girl with a pearl earring.
Because of this, an intra-family conflict and scandal erupts in Jan's family
between Jan and his jealous wife, Katarina. As a result, Grit was expelled from the
owners' house.
The film keeps the viewers in suspense from beginning to end and makes
them worry more and more about the main character with each new plot twist.
The end of the film is a cliffhanger and gives to the viewer the opportunity to
think about the future of the girl.
In the film, everything is gorgeous from top to bottom. The main characters
are not out of the picture, and the actors do an excellent job with the game.
Throughout the film, the number of dialogues was small, but this does not
interfere with the perception of the plot and the full disclosure of the picture.
The use of colors, tones and atmosphere deserve special attention. Despite
the predominance of gloomy, dark, deep tones, the image is conveyed clearly,
and most importantly elegantly. At any time, you could put the film on "stop" any
time and see, as it were, a picture painted by an artist.
Music also deserves special attention. It does not interfere with the
perception of dialogues, their understanding, and even more immerses in the
plot. It is also worth noting that the soundtrack to the film was nominated for a
Golden Globe Award.
I think that the task of the painting is an attempt to uncover the mystery of
the creation of the canvas, which remains unknown to this day, since little is
known about the artist Jan Vermeer.
I believe that this attempt was crowned with success, because after
watching the film, it leaves only positive emotions about itself.
In conclusion, I would like to say that the film fascinates with its beauty of
colors, looks in one breath and the directors, screenwriters and the entire film
crew and acting groups managed to convey the atmosphere of the era of that
time.
This film helps to delve into the topic of "art", gives you the opportunity to
enjoy the beauty of colors, and is also rich in vocabulary related to this topic,
despite the small number of dialogues.
