CHAPTER II. LITERATURE REVIEW (PART I)

A literature review is the process of collecting, selection, and reading books,
journals, reports, abstracts, and other reference materials. This activity is meant to be
used in conjunction with selecting and working on a research topic. It helps the
students truly review the work necessary to write a good literature review.

Here are some potential sources of information:

Textbooks News paper Legislative review

Research paper Journal Articles Maps
Encyclopedia Previous studies World Wide Web
Conference proceedings Television Technical handbook
Popular Magazine News Magazine Standards document
Government document Professional Interview Published surveys and statistics
[Elements of literature review: (a) a discussion of the theoretical or conceptual
framework within which the study will be grounded; (b) a synthesis of the findings in a
“state-of-knowledge” summary in regard to the problem area, including additional
evidence as to the nature and the importance of the problem; (c) a clear discussion of
how further research should extend, differ from, or replicate past studies, including the
identification of critical variables in the problem area and important questions to be
tested; (d) an indication of shortcomings that should be avoided in the design of prior
research, as well as strengths to be repeated in conducting another study; and (e) a
critique of the literature as a basis for any controversial methodological decisions to be
presented in the proposal.]

Questions you might answer in the literature review. Write at least answer for each of the following
questions using different references. Cite the references you used. Use clean bond papers.

1. Is the problem important? (Or worth researching?)

2. Have others researched it before?
3. What conclusions did they reach towards the question?
4. What impact might this research have?
5. How will you find these references?

Attach 5 International journals and 5 local journals.
