ACTIVITY 3- PRINCIPLES OF TRAINING

Individuality

Individuality is important most especially to people who are physically capable of

heavy training. Each and everyone of us are physically different, our body
responds to the training in a different way. Some days your training can go really
well and the next day, even though it was exactly the same length workout, it can
be a nightmare. This is individualisation.

Overload

Too much training is not okay, our body needs to breathe and needs to process
our training. Over training causes fatigue and uncomfortable feelings. Without the
correct amount of rest you will suffer from overtraining. With the correct amount
of increased training and the right rest, you get overloaded.

Specificity

This principle is focused on a particular or specific training that you have

chosen. It is essential that the physical strains experienced during your chosen
sport or adventure are replicated during training. For instance, if you only have a
small amount of time to train but want to devote yourself to walking or cycling,
you should focus on those activities rather than other sports like squash or
tennis.

Reversibility

Use it or lose it! Risk it or it will never happen, when you are still capable of
doing the training grab the chance and do it. We are not always young and strong
there will be a point in our lives where we're gonna be weak and old, therefore
when you still have time do it.

Variation

You have to mix up your workouts. This keeps you interested and presents
various physical challenges to your body. A change is as beneficial as a rest, so
keep that in mind when training. In order to maintain their fitness while still
getting a break between their main seasons, many professional athletes will play
an entirely different sport.

Recovery

According to the recovery principle, athletes require enough time to recover from
their preparation and competition. causing many to contend that recovery is just
as crucial as training itself, if not more so. Our bodies experience stress during
exercise, but adaptations don't happen until after.

Periodisation

Periodization is basically a preparation and a method of exercise design that

encourages sustained performance gains. This strategy is applied by coaches by
altering changes of exercise intensity, volume, frequency, and specificity during
specific training cycles.
