The War in Heaven

God and the Heavenly Angels:

1.God : the Creator and the Omnipotent

2.The Son : Jesus Christ

3.Lucifer : An Archangel, later becomes an Adversary.

4.Michael : An Archangel, fiercest fighter, on the front in the battle against rebellious
angels. He leads Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden after their
disobedience.

5.Raphael : Friendly Archangel who often converses with Adam about universe.

6.Gabriel : Guardian Angel, guards the gate of the Garden of Eden.

7.Abdiel : An angel who returns to God from Satan.

8.Uriel : An angel, supreme ruler of the sun. He warns heavenly bodies about Satan’s
` entry into the Garden of Eden.

9. Beelzebub, Moloch, Belial and Mammon: rebellious angels who support Lucifer / Satan

1. Lucifer, the Latin word means the light bearer or the shining one.
2. He was one of the most powerful archangels in Heaven.
3. He was a powerful, intelligent and beautiful angel.
4. Every angel has a free will/ choice. He used it and defied God because of his pride.
5. One-third of angels in heaven joined him and they revolted against God.
6. Michael and other loyal archangels led the war against Lucifer.
7. Jesus, the son of God went on the third day and defeated Lucifer and his supporters.
8. Lucifer , along with his followers were cast out of heaven and they fell into deep
underground/ the chaos/hell/pandemonium. They became as fallen angels/devils.
Lucifer came to be known as ‘adversary’, Satan.
9. They sinned against God thereby gave birth to death, the offspring of sin.
10. Satan wanted to take a revenge against God. So he was waiting for the right time.
11. As we read in the Bible, from the Book of Genesis chapter 1:2, after this revolt, God
created earth and other species in six days and took rest on the seventh day.
12. In the middle of the Garden of Eden, God placed the tree of the knowledge of good
and evil and the tree of life.
13. God created Adam in His own image and placed him in the Garden of Eden and asked
not to eat fruit from the forbidden tree/ tree of knowledge of good and evil. Later, He
caused a deep sleep to fall upon adam and took one of his ribs and made it into a
woman,i.e.Eve. to be his companion.
14. Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called
Woman, because she was taken out of Man.
15. Adam and Eve were naked/innocent. But they had free will/choice like that of
Lucifer.
16. Satan having been waited for this moment, came down to earth and appeared in Eve’s
dream first.
17. Uriel, the angel of God warned the heavenly bodies of Satan’s return.
18. Gabriel, the archangel, drove Satan out of the Garden of Eden.
19. Satan roamed around for seven days and returned to earth on the eighth day.
20. Satan saw Eve being alone. So, he took the form of the serpent and tempted Eve
saying that he could speak after eating the fruit form the tree of knowledge of good
and evil.
21. Eve ate the fruit knowing not that was actually like eating death.
22. Adam worried over Eve’s fall. Later ate the fruit knowingly as he was fondly
overcome with female charm.
23. Earth felt the wound. Nature trembled.
24. Adam and Eve felt naked for the first time. And covered themselves with the leaves of
figtree. They eventually quenched their lust through sex.
25. When they woke up , they realized that they disobeyed God’s will. They both felt
doomed.
26. They were accusing each other for a very long time. ( Paradise Lost :Book IX ends
with this)
27. They were not allowed eat fruit from the tree of life which was guarded by Cherub.
28. They were cast out from the Garden of Eden. They became mortal.
29. Jesus Christ , the beloved son of God, volunteered to redeem the generations of Adam
and Eve through His death / salvation.
