Character List Of Paradise Lost:

1) God the Father:

God the father is first part of the Christian Trinity. God the

Father creates the world by means of God the Son and create Adam

and Eve last. He foresees the fall of mankind through them. He does

not prevent their fall, in order to preserve their free will, but he does

allow his Son to atone for their sins.

2) God the Son:

God the Son is Jesus Christ and is the second part of the Trinity.

He delivers the fatal blow to Satan’s forces, sending them down into Hell,

before the creation of Earth. When the fall of man is predicted, He offers

himself as a sacrifice to pay for the sins of mankind, so that God the Father

can be both just and merciful.

3) Satan:
Satan means arch enemy of man. Satan means a lost arch angel.

Satan is hero in book 1 of paradise lost and villian in book 9 of paradise lost.

Satan's character is bundle of paradoxes. It is very careful

About his liberty.

 Satan is head of the rebellious angels who have just fallen from

Heaven. As the poem’s antagonist, Satan is the originator of sin as the first to

be ungrateful for God the Father’s blessings.

Though the main theme of the poem is "Man's first disobedience",

yet it is the character of Satan in paradise lost. Satan is arch enemy of God.

The next character of Satan is gradual degradation. Satan always

makes planning in the hell to creat fight between God and human. Satan is the

first major charecter in the poem farmely called 'Lucifer. In the book of paradise

lost, Satan forced Eve to eat fruit of knowledge.

4) Adam:
Adam is first human. He is the father of all humans. The God had

made him beautiful, innocent and intelligent. But in paradise lost, he attracts

In the physical beauty of Eve Adam is grateful and obedient to the God falls from

grace when Eve convinced him to join her in the sin of eating fruit of knowledge.

Adam eats the fruit of tree of knowledge because he can't bear losing Eve.

Adam is superior than Eve. He and Eve feud after the fall but are reconciled.

5) Eve:
Eve is first woman and mother of mankind. She was made from a

rib taken from Adam’s side. Because she was made from Adam and for Adam, she is

subservient to him. She is also weaker than Adam, so Satan focuses his powers of

temptation on her. Adam attracted with her physical beauty . Satan forced her

to take part in obnoxious things and stay away from good things. Satan forced her to

eat fruit of knowledge and then she ate.

6) Sin:
Sin is daughter of Satan. She guard the gates of hell. She built the

bridge between Earth and Heaven. Satan made her pregnant and her daughter name

was death.

7) Death:
Death is child of Sin and Satan. Both Sin and Death are child of

Satan. Sin and Death came on the earth to spread evils. The relationship between

Sin, Death and Satan is horrible.

7) Michael:
Michael is great arch angel.He is the main leader of heaven's

army. He leads the Angelic forces against Satan. And he also guard the

gates of Heaven.

He dislodged Adam and Eve from the paradise with God's order.
9) Raphael:
She is also a Heaven's angel. God sent her to the Adam

and Eve and tell them to be careful from Satan. She took dinner with

Adam and Eve and tell them about the fight between God and Satan.

10) Gabriel:
In the Bible, Gabriel is Angel of mercy. He is Angel of justice.

In Paradise Lost, he is Angel who guards the gate of Eden. He captures

Satan on his first attempt at corrupting Adam and Eve and sends him

away.

11) Abdiel:
Abdiel was part of Satan's army and later he joined

God's army . He was Satan's host. He confront Satan and

Pushes him backwards.

12) Beelzebub:
Beelzebub is powerful devil. He is very particular to

Satan. Satan almost connected with Beelzebub.

13) Moloch:
A rash, irrational and murderous devil. Moloch argues in

Pandemonium that the devils should engage in another full war

against God and his servant angels.

14) Uriel:
An angel who guards the planet earth. Uriel is the angel

whom Satan tricks when he is disguised as a cherub. Uriel, as a

good angel and guardian, tries to correct his error by making the

other angels aware of Satan’s presence.

15) Belial:
One of the principal devils in Hell. Belial argues against

further war with Heaven, but he does so because he is an embodiment of

sloth and inactivity, not for any good reason. His eloquence and learning is

great, and he is able to persuade many of the devils with his faulty reasoning.

16) Mammon:
A devil known in the Bible as the epitome of wealth. Mammon

always walks hunched over, as if he is searching the ground for valuables.

In the debate among the devils, he argues against war, seeing no profit to

be gained from it. He believes Hell can be improved by mining the gems

and minerals they find there.

17) Mulciber:
The devil who builds Pandemonium, Satan’s palace in Hell.

Mulciber’s character is based on a Greek mythological figure known for

being a poor architect, but in Milton’s poem he is one of the most

productive and skilled devils in Hell.

18) Ithuriel:
Ithuriel is one of the angel who assist Gabriel in

guarding Eden. Ithuriel and zephron capture Satan whispering in Eve's ear.
