ABOUT US
An NGO, run by a group of socially active, determined & educated

youths, that aims to educate underprivileged children.
We are here with a thought: "Why only us? Why don’t the children
living in slums have an access to quality education?" Neither we nor
they choose the families that we are born and also there is no such
right that bestows the blessing of education upon us… only us.
Every time we think of these children, a question arises in our
mind-
“What if all these facilities and luxury, which we are enjoying,
weren't available to us? Would we still be enjoying the same level
of academic success as we do currently? "
The answer is simple NO. These kids are in a similar situation. Their
dreams cannot be fulfilled because of lack of resources, financial
and emotional support. We strive to provide them with all of it and
more.
Light de Literacy has been started to provide quality education to
underprivileged children. We have been working for children living
in slums since 2012 and have started working under this name
since September 27th, 2014.’Light de Literacy’ means ‘साक्षरता का
प्रकाश’ & our tag line ‘एक आशा नवननर्ााण की’ clearly shows our vision
for the future guided by the motto-
Educate * Empower * Enlighten.

MISSION AND MOTIVE
1. To identify and educate children and make them self-dependent

so that, they can become dignified members of the society and
have a common platform with others in terms of social equality
and justice.
2. To make children discover their hidden potentials so that they
can be the ideal example of change in society.
3. Our organization works with the main objective of educating the
children in misery. The children who are not able to receive
education due to their deteriorated background and incapability
of their parents to support them financially.
4. To teach them the code of conduct and make them aware of the
potential hazards they are prone to, by taking occasional session
and counselling them.
5. The organization focuses on an overall development of a child in
the field of academics, sports, art etc.

WHAT WE DO
All the members, close to 500, of our organization are committed for
the welfare of these children. We had initiated our work by teaching
about 30 children on daily basis at a slum in Pratap Vihar and 20
children in Samrat Chowk area in Ghaziabad. Currently, we are
teaching around 500 children daily at 10 different locations in
collaboration with our colleagues from various colleges & different
sections of society.
An award ceremony named ‘Pratibha Samman Samaroh’ is also
organized, where we honour young talents for their utmost
performance in their respective classes. A sport event named ‘Umang’
is conducted annually to aware the children about various sports and
allow them to develop confidence and spirit for competition.
We are also giving special attention to improve general knowledge of
our children under our special programme ‘Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam
Scholarship Scheme’. Under this we are working on specially designed
curriculum which covers various diversities existing in this world. A
campaign named ‘She for She’ has been started to make our girl
children aware of menstrual hygiene.
Apart from teaching, a number of events, on the occasions of National
Festivals, Children’s Day, Teacher’s Day and Environment Day, Holi,
Diwali, Christmas, Eid, etc. are also conducted by our team. Since the
financial condition of these children and their families is not good, they
don’t have sufficient clothes to cover their bodies against the odds of
nature. In this respect, at regular intervals, we distribute clothes among
them.

A special ‘cloth donation’ drive is conducted during winters every year,

as a small step to keep them warm in winters. We have also started the
first edition of our quarterly magazine named ‘Prayas-सुनहरे कल की
ओर’ which contains our routine activities.

OUR METHODOLOGY
1. Firstly, we identify the slum or any undeveloped area where
economically weaker sections of society exist.
2. We provide them basic primary education for a short period
and they are under consistent observation during this period.
3. We check their performance levels by conducting test of basic
subjects (English, Hindi and Mathematics) along with that we
keep a close watch on the level of interest and curiosity of the
children towards studies.
4. We talk to their parents, make them understand and aware
about importance of quality education and from their final
consent we admit their children to nearby schools.

OUR ACHIEVEMENTS
Children, who show their interest in studies

and have potential, are admitted in schools.
Till now we have admitted 47 children in
different schools and they are doing very well
in their studies.
20+ of these children are regularly securing

top 5 rank in their respective classes. These
children have potential, ability and are
enthusiastic to study.
Three of our kids have cleared the JNV

entrance test held in Jan, 2017 for standard
6th. We also have a child that cleared the
JNV test in 2018.
We conduct heath check-up for more than

500 children and women in collaboration
with the Pharmacy Department of RKGIT.
This year children were from various camps
of Ghaziabad including Samrat Chowk,
Fortis, Nursery etc.

One of our children, Vaishali has

performed very well in class 12th
(CBSE board). She has got
admission at RKGITM. She is now
pursuing B. Tech from Computer
Science and Engineering branch.
Earlier also she made us proud by
winning various medals in Kho-Kho,
Boxing and Basketball at district
and state level.
Our members participated

in National Social Summit
held at IIT Roorkee. Our
team bagged 2nd rank in
both NUKKAD NATAK and
WORK PRESENTATION
categories.

OUR INITIATIVES
SHE FOR SHE
In This campaign we look after Menstrual Hygiene of our children

falling under the age group & also of their family members. 5400+
Sanitary napkins have been distributed from Feb’18 to Feb’20 and
still this initiative continues to grow in helping girls in the best way
possible.

PRAYAS
This is our new initiative to communicate with

all our well-wishers. Prayas is our quarterly
magazine which will contain our routine
activities, mainly to provide space for hidden
talents of our kids and to enrich their thinking
ability. We will also publish views of our
members & their creativity. The first edition
was released in April, 2018.
UMANG
This is our annual sports fest

which is conducted across all
our literacy centres. We
organize various sorts of
events ranging from Athletics,
Badminton, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho
etc. This event has been
started in order to generate
interest towards sports.

PSS
This is also one of our annual events which we organise to honour

young talents. During the academic year, we analyse our kids'
performance & their involvement towards education and then for
appreciating their efforts we distribute awards & gifts to them. We
also give special recognition to few of our members who are making
all efforts to bring happiness in life of these kids.

BOOK FAIR
Book fair is organized by team ABES-EC. Faculties give the books as donation
to our members. These books are sold by our members to students of our
campus at low rates. The fund collected is raised for the NGO.
NANHE DEEP
Nanhe deep is an event organized

by team RKGIT. This is a drawing
and painting competition themed
on Diwali. This event is sponsored
by RKGIT.

CLOTH DONATION
At regular intervals, we distribute clothes among these children and their

families. We also distribute clothes at various public places like Railway
Station, Bus Stations, Hospitals in order to support all the needy people.
PLANTATION DRIVE
We also organize plantation drives at

our camps, such drives not only help
in keeping our Earth green but these
activities help us to teach children how
to take care of a plant and help it to
grow. Such activities turn younger
generation into responsible citizens.

AAROGYA VATIKA
It is an initiative which was started at our RKGIT Literacy Center. “Aarogya

Vatika” simply means Health Awareness Camp, which is started at our RKGIT
Literacy center in 2017 with the help of Pharmacy department of RKGIT
college. In this health awareness camp, we conduct various basic medical tests
for women and children living in adverse conditions at our camps.

Technical classes are also provided to children where they get hands-on
experience and exposure to technology

REGULAR EXAMINATION & RESULT ANALYSIS
We take weekly tests in all our camps and also keep on assessing their
performance through regular result analysis.
RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
Apart from academics we also organize recreational activities like sports,

drawing sessions, show them movies for children on Sundays.

FUND COLLECTION
We, only at our level, are not able to raise enough

money to help these children in paying their fees,
buying uniforms and other related expenses. So, we
rely on the donation from our acquaintances. We
approach college faculties and show them profiles of
our children.
Many faculties help us by paying monthly fees of

these kids. Performance reports of respective child is
sent to them through E-mail.
We collect donations from our colleagues,
neighbours, family members and our elders.
We approach a number of people in the societies

nearby us, tell them about our work, and request
them to help the needy children.
Quite a few were very much inspired by us. Few

support us by donating cash, few through
clothes, stationery items, mats, daily use items of
sanitation and hygiene.
We really appreciate everyone’s support.

FUTURE PLANS
We aim to bring a large-scale change. As this is our first step towards

expansion of our united thoughts as a team, we are giving our
maximum possible effort so that we can cover maximum number of
children. We have planned to admit 75 children to private schools by
the end of admission process of this session.
For this we also need to expand our organization. So, simultaneously

we are also working on that. We are focused in a way such that this
organization reaches to maximum possible people and we have
targeted to work in collaboration with students of at least 15 different
colleges by the end of this year.
As we are also concerned about long term plan, we are fully dedicated
to help these children throughout their higher education & we are
totally aware of what it takes. We planned to admit them in schools
having hostel facilities like Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, Sainik
Schools and Government Funded Schools so that they can get the
proper atmosphere for their studies which, is not possible in the type of
localities they dwell in.

Whatever might be the case, we do not allow any kind of opaqueness
in our work. All our work, events, sources of getting funds and

motive and anyone coming forward with such intentions is

child or can become his/her care taker. We will
provide to you all of his/her performance reports
regularly.

children.
4. We seek your help in providing us with resources, but
donation in cash is also well appreciated.
5. You can provide us the opportunity to promote our
organization in your esteemed organization/
institution/society so that we can gain support in
both forms viz. Volunteers & Donation.
We all are working for the society, for our nation with a common goal
to make our nation more prosperous and developed. Join hands with
