As tiring or exhausting as it may seem, I can still
describe my first week of duty as both
educational and rewarding at the same time.
Because for the first time of my life I was able to
enter a facility dedicated for those
psychologically ill patients, wherein I had seen
firsthand how their cases can be similar or
diverse. It became educational for me because I
am able to grasp important inputs or knowledge
that I can use as I handle different patients with
different cases. Likewise, I acknowledge this
week’s experiences as my
steppingstones towards reaching our professional
path- to where my heart seemed to belong to.
And that is to provide sufficient help and care for
these type of people in our society. The
experiences also became rewarding to me
because I was able to interact with the patients
who I thought as to be intimidating and harmful.
These encounters shed light to me that emotions
should not get the best out of me, nor their
illnesses affecting my current state and
judgement as future counselor or psychologist.
Moreover, these experiences has able to provide
me such core memory – in which I can utilize as I
continue my work here at Villa Herzon. Lastly, I
then realized that fulfilling my hours of duty in a
clinical setting is not my primary aim anymore,
but it is to serve and impart an important impact
or help to patients that I will be handling in this
facility.
