Collar Material The TeleScope Collars are made of non-magnetic stainless steel. This steel is used to eliminate magnetic field interference that could affect the magnetometers readings. The most common type of material used Is referred to as P550 (Material Specification SH620512). However, in some instances where the environment is very corrosive, collars made of P580 (Material Specification 100055776) or P750 (Material Spec. 100679614) can be used. The drawback of using P750 collars is that there is limited number of approved vendors for collars repairs (see section 9.6 P750 Repair for more details). 3. Collar Dimensions 3.1. Collar Straightness New collars dropped or damaged during handling and transportation shall be inspected for straightness as Per specification 100067947 (InTouch 3913877) and out-of-roundness at 0.005 inch FIM (as per engineering drawings). For old collars or new collars that have not been dropped or damaged, straightness shall be checked during Service Level 1 ~ Step 1.11 as per lar Manual (InTouch 3880980) ~ Section 5.7.3 Straightness determination. 3.2 Collar ROP For reference: The distance between the ROP recess and the aligning feature Is 19.770”. ROP Alignment feature 19.70" “TeleScope Collar FIGURE 1. ROP TO ALIGNING FEATURE DISTANCE. Engineer: SAcharya Records: Date prepared: 4-Dec-2017 Mig Engineer: Project imager: VShinde Schlumberger Bevel Diameters Bevels on connections serve two purposes. The first is to minimize the risk of deformation, or of a sharp edge being deformed into the sealing surface. The second is to increase the contact pressure on the sealing face so as to minimize leakage. In general, bevels are sized to reduce the contact area by approximately 25%. The bevel diameters should normally be equal on both sides of a connection to minimize the formation of grooves on the sealing face, so tool joint and drill bit bevels are standardized. Bottom hole assembly components often vary in diameter, so the bevels are sized to the most critical connections, usually the box with the smallest outside diameter for a given thread. The bevels are selected from the table below. In order to allow for wear, the outside diameter used is always API nominal, rather than the measured diameter. In a number of cases, the smallest bevel diameter in the API tables is larger than than our collar diameter! This problem is largely resolved by the recognition that the Schlumberger use of most of the connections has pin members with large inside diameter, and therefore we can use custom. (small) bevel diameters with restrictions on the pin ID. Note that bit boxes (bottom-most connections that accept the pin of the bit) have fixed bevel diameters that are not the same as those of drill collars. These are identified separately in the table For connections not identified, and not proprietary to Schlumberger, use the bevel dimensions in API Spec 7-2 addendum 1. Licensed machine shops should have a copy of this document. Schlumberger practice is as follows, based on ISO 10424-2 and API 7-2 Addendum 1 Manufacturing tolerance is +/-.016 from the drawing dimensions. Working tolerance in the field is+.141/-.016 from the dimensions in this table. The table on page 2 applies to recuts in the field, and to UPDATES to drawings in Engineering. As of November 2011, the majority of Engineering drawings were dimensioned according to the initial release of API spec 7-2, and the collars made to them remain acceptable Confidential and Trade Secret Do not disclose, use, or reproduce without written approval from Schlumberger Schlumberger Oilfield Services SPC File Code: Page 1 of 2 Part Number: $-408705 _ Rev:AN Prepared by: Date prepared: ‘SAcharya Des.
