Actuator Board

Experiment - 1: Brushed DC Motor

Experiment – 2: Brushless DC Motor
Experiment – 3: DC Motor design (Study)
Architecture of Remote Lab
Remote Lab
• 3 experiments | 7 marks
• Assignment for each experiment.
• 2 hours of practice (Each slot has one hour)

• Book slot - http://bitsmech.remotelabs.platifi.com

• RDP download – link
• Username and password – BITSID and DOB
• For example 2019HT030@wilp.bits-pilani.ac.in and 27111989
• No separate quiz for Remote Lab
Steps to access the remote lab
Step-1
 Book you slot by clicking the mentioned link and concern credentials.
 Download the RDP file for actuator and make it ready during you slot commencement
 Once the booked slot time begins open the RDP file by double clicking
 Now you can see remote desktop screen

speed here
Ex-1: brushed DC Motor

Step-1: Gradually increase the voltage applied by the amplifier until the brushed DC
motor starts to continuously rotate. Record the voltage.

Input Voltage (V) Motor Speed (RPM)

0.2
0.3
0.4
0.5
0.6
Ex-1: brushed DC Motor

Step-2: Repeat the process in the opposite direction by setting the command voltage
to 0 V and gradually decreasing the voltage. Record the voltage.

Input Voltage (V) Motor Speed (RPM)

-0.2
-0.3
-0.4

Ex-1: brushed DC Motor

Step-3: Set the command voltage to a value higher than that found in step-1 where the motor
begins to turn. Slowly decrease the applied voltage until the motor stops moving. Record the
voltage at which this occurs.

Step-4: Repeat step-3 in the opposite direction using negative voltages.

Step-5: Starting at 0 V increase the command voltage in 0.1 V increments up to 1 V and then in
0.5 V increments to 5 V. Record the resulting motor speed at each voltage.

Step-6: Repeat step 5 in the opposite direction using negative voltages.
