If you know death can happen any moment, you will never possess anything, though you may be in
the midst of the objects.

 A student went to
Janaka for final
teaching. The student
was cofused because
the other sanyasis has
sent him to learn the
final teaching from
Janaka.

 Hewas confused
because he was a
sanyasi and Janaka
was Grihastha.
Death

 What can he learn

from a grihastha?
 This was the ego of
the sanyasi there.

 When he went there,

to his surprise, he
saw a beautiful and
luxurious palace, and
he thought….
Death

 “My Guru has made

a mistake by sending
me to Janaka
because he is not
detached, he is fully
attached to all these
luxuries even now.”
Death

 He asked, “If you are

really enlightened
why are you having
all these objects?”….
Death

 Janaka said, “We

will start the
Vedantha class
tomorrow, you go
and sleep now.”
Death

 He was given the best

of rooms to sleep in
but in the room,
there was a sword
hanging by a thin
thread.
Death

 He said” My God,
what is this ?” but
because there was no
way to go out, he had
to sleep there.
Death

 The next day Janaka

asked him, “Did you
sleep well?”
Death

 “How can I sleep? All

night the sword was
hanging over me,
anytime the sword
could fall and I could
die there.”
Death

“ This is my first
teaching,” said
Janaka.
 The sword stands for
death;
Death

 death can happen

any moment.
 When you know this,
you will never
possess any object.
Death

 When have the

ignorance that death
can never happen,
you want to possess
objects.
Death

 If you know death

can happen any
moment, you will
never possess
