time given by my class teacher Miss Ramdatt and other respected
teachers;
Miss Ceaser, Miss Larose, and Miss Timmerman for their guidance and
feedback that have helped me in completing my S.B.A. I also would like
to mention my mother Miss Joy Noel who helped me tremendously in
gathering different information and guiding me from time to time,
despite her busy schedule, inputting the ideas in an intelligible way. To
my Group Members and friends who were also part of my support
system, thank you for helping me complete this task. Finally, I would
like to thank God for giving me the strength and patience to complete
this SBA, This research was done to increase my knowledge in
language, while utilizing skills learned, to contribute to constructive
forums.

SUB TOPIC
The Impact of Music on the Human Brain

5|Page
PLAN OF INVESTIGATION
The researcher chose this topic becauseof the impact that music has on
the human brain, more specifically, as a student. Thus farstudies have
shown that music produces positive effects on learners andas
such, listening to music helps toboost concentration by activating both
the left and right sides of the brain whileintensifying mental focus, thus
helping the student to study more efficiently.
As an‘English’ student, this research will help me to improve cognition.
As it relates to information being sought for this research;
The three artefacts that I will be using is a song, a poem and a Pictorial
Representation of my topic.

Artefact 1: Song

7|Page
Artefact 2: Poem

8|Page
Artefact 3: Pictorial Representation

REFLECTION 1
1. State how the data/artifact has inspired, impacted you, and what
it reminds you of
I have chosen the genre of ‘K-pop’ Electronic Dance Music for my first
reflective piece because ,while listening to this song “Pied Piper” from
‘K-Pop’ music group (BTS), I was inspired. The strategic yet interesting
way the artistsperformed this song easily teaches melomaniacs, like
me,the importance of balance between leisure and studyingtime.“Pied
Piper” specifically motivated me to have fun without sacrificing my
responsibilities and goals while providing entertainment, much to my
enjoyment.
Stop
Now stop watching and study for your exams
Your parents and manager hate me
The videos you watched, all the photo and tweeter
V app, bon voyage
I know it all, what to do when it's good,
Stop, make MV theories later
There're plenty of my photos in your room anyway what's
one hour, one two years are going away in an instant
This song is my award for you
be nice

The lyrics may sound comical and almost scrambled in a way to not be
that clear butit is actually a strategy used to encourage listeners who lack
motivation in studying and pursuing goals,to focus and listen to this
song, It helps you learn that your goal in life is more important than
having an obsession with your Idols and not studying.

REFLECTION 2
2. Student will comment on the use of language, They will state if the
language aid in your understanding of the sub-theme/topic.
The use of language in the poem ''music'' by Bhavna Joseph certainly
helps the reader to better understand and appreciate the literary work.
It's effect present descriptive evidence to support the experience it
provides, and through the many references to aspects of(the poet's life
more personally), e.g. ''it let me regain moments lost, music brings back
memories of the past and help relive with loved ones who've passes'';
has made the topic/sub topic much clearer, underscoring the depths of
the experiences highlighted by the poet, and presenting a clearer and
much more direct expression to the reader.

REFLECTION 3
3. State how the Sub-theme/Topic Helps you to Become a Better
Person, Shape your Attitude, etc.
With completing this S.B.A, I have gained more knowledge about
hidden messages in songs, I have also learned that music can havea huge
impact on listeners and that can be affected by the level at which it is
played and by its lyrical content and instrumentation.
I have a better understanding of how music affects the brain and I am
able to communicate these findings to others as a contributor to
progressive academic forums.

GROUP REPORT
Our SBA's topic was chosen to be music. Quotes, pictorial representations,
obituaries, poems, drawings, and articles were among the artefacts chosen;
nonetheless, with the leadership of our class teacher and the assistance of group
members, each individual was satisfied with their work's end. Websites, textbooks,
online obituaries, summaries, and analyses were used to gather information for the
group. Individuals found it easier to work together because each member
communicated with one another, ensuring a solid impact of good grades on this
SBA. Members of the group gathered in our school's classroom, where we began to
reveal the bits and pieces required for completion of this activity. As a group we
learnt about the impact of music on the human brain, the positive effects on loud
music on concentration, the negative effects music has on concentration, the
positive impact of reggae music on Guyana citizens also the impact of dancehall
music on society thus together were able to cooperate effectively as a group.

ORAL PRESENATATION
(speech)
My name is Cassie Captain , and today I'll be doing a presentation based
on my topic:
''The impact of music on human brain'' in a form of aspeech, and how it
can be beneficial for humans.
What is music?
Music is a series of sounds organized in time, employing melody,
harmony and tempo, usually to convey a mood.
This topic of ''the impact of music on human brain'', caught my
attentionbecause music provides a total brain workout and listening to
music can reduce anxiety, pain, depression, improve sleep quality,
mood, blood pressure, mental alertness and memory the impact of music
that has on human brains can also change our perspective for eachother.
Researchers have found that keeping your brain engaged throughout the
aging process, listening to or playing music is a great tool, it provides a
total brain workout.
