I. INTRODUCTION
Thesis statement:
Paper bags and plastic bags have the same function, but they different
impacts on the world.

II. BODY
a. The first thing that I think when I use a bag is how is it composed:
Paper bags: It is composed of trees like pine and eucalyptus, that they are
renewable resources.
Plastic bags: It is composed of petroleum, which means non-renewable resource.

b. On the other hand, I want to know what option is better for the planet:
Paper bags: It can degrade faster and you can recycle or use it to do your own
vegetable garden.
Plastic bags: It takes more than 400 years to degrade and this produces
contamination.

c. The last, which of the two bags is more resistant:

Paper bags: Support just 5 kilos, and it depends on the quality of the bags.
Plastic bags: Support 7 to 9 kilos.

III. CONCLUSION

Restate of the thesis statement

As we have seen, these two types of bags have some similarities, but also
they have many differences.

DRAFT: PAPER BAGS VS PLASTIC BAGS

What bag should I use? It is a question that many of us ask ourselves, but
few of us know what to answer. Now we are going to compare and contrast
some points to be able to choose the best bag. Also, this will make us more
aware of it is used. This is crucial to our lives, so we need to be prepared to
make a decision about it. Paper bags and plastic bags have the same
function, but they have different aspects such as how is it composed,
what option is better for the planet, and their resistance.
The first thing that I think of when I use a bag is how is it composed.
Paper bags are composed of trees like pine and eucalyptus, that they are
renewable resources. In contrast to plastic bags that are composed of
petroleum, which means non-renewable resource. Margaret Bates, a
professor of sustainable waste management said, "The most important
thing, no matter what material they are made from, It is that they can be
reused as much as possible, thus reducing waste contamination to a
minimum" This is an important point because we should know to analyze
what is convenient to us

On the other hand, I want to know what option is better for the planet.
Paper bags can degrade faster and you can recycle or use them to do your
own vegetable garden. So, we can say that this is a positive aspect to
protect our planet. But plastic bags take more than 400 years to degrade
and this produces contamination. However, we continue to use this type of
bag and we have to prevent and save the world. In summary, some experts
said that paper bags were less durable than plastic bags, but that it was
also necessary to take into account the environmental impact.

Finally, which of the two bags is more resistant. Whereas paper bags
support just 4 kilos, plastic bags support 7 to 9 kilos. Also, it depends on the
quality because some bags like cloth bags are more resistant than plastic
bags. Just we have to find a bag with this principle characteristic to be able
to reuse. In the supermarkets, we can see a variety of types of bags and it
gives us important information about if it is resistant or not.

With this information, we can infer and answer the question. The best option
is to use paper bags, but we can get better if we reduce this big percent to
produce and reuse the bags of plastic, cloths and other types of bags like
cotton, biodegradable. As the experts say, the most important thing is to be
able to reduce environmental impact and pollution. As we have seen,
these two types of bags have some similarities, but also they have
many differences.
FINAL:
What bag should I use? It is a question that many of us ask ourselves, but
few of us know what to answer. Now we are going to compare and contrast
some points to be able to choose the best bag between plastic bags and
paper bags. Also, this will make us more aware of it is used. This is crucial
to our lives, so we need to be prepared to make a decision about it. Paper
and plastic bags are very similar because they perform the same function,
but the differences are even more so in terms of composition, degradation
time, and resistance.

The first thing that I think of when I use a bag is how is it composed. Paper
bags are composed of trees like pine and eucalyptus, that they are
renewable resources. In contrast to plastic bags that are composed of

thing, no matter what material they are made from, It is that they can be
reused as much as possible, thus reducing waste contamination to a
minimum". This is an important point because we should know to analyze
what is convenient for us.

On the other hand, another point that interests me is the degradation time of
each one. Paper bags can degrade faster whereas plastic bags take
hundreds of years. The paper bags can be recycled or used to make your
own garden. So, we can say that this is a positive aspect to protect our
planet. While plastic takes 600 years or more to degrade, paper only takes 3
months. However, we continue to use this type of plastic bag, but it is time
to prevent and save the world. In addition, some experts said that paper
bags were less durable than plastic ones, but also that the environmental
impact needed to be taken into account.

Finally, It is important to know which of the two bags is more resistant.

Whereas paper bags support just 3 kilos, plastic bags support 7 to 9 kilos.
Also, it depends on the quality because some bags like cloth bags are more
resistant than plastic bags. Just we have to find a bag with this
characteristic to be able to re-use. In the supermarkets, we can see a
variety of types of bags and it gives us important information about if it is
resistant or not and we have to take note.

With this information, we can infer and answer the question. The best option
is to use paper bags, but we can get better if we reduce this big percent of
production and re-use the bags of plastic, cloths, and other types of bags
like cotton, biodegradable. As the experts say, the most important thing is to
be able to reduce environmental impact and pollution. As we have seen,
these two types of bags have some similarities, but also they have many
differences that we should take into account.

 For the number 2, write an answer from Professor Duneier.

From Tommy to professor Duneier: “Margie and I hate learning at

home without other students. We don’t understand why your
students would choose to take online courses. Wouldn’t they have
more fun and friends in a school? Also, wouldn’t they learn more?”
My dear Tommy,
First I want to tell you that learning depends on each one because no matter
how difficult it is, a person always seeks to learn more. In addition, this
possibility of virtual learning helps people who are abroad, in different
countries. It is also very fun because you can learn a lot from your
classmates, you learn more about their cultures, native languages and you
can even form incredible friendships. Taking an online course means giving
yourself a chance and opening the door to the world, but as long as you can
have a course that you like and are passionate about. Like a school, you can
debate on a topic, give your point of view, participate and interact with
others.

UNIT 8: NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES OF TECHNOLOGY.

STEP 1: Create a survey in which you ask participants about their observations concerning
the evolution of (choose one) personal computers, laptops, tablets, or cell phones. Here are a
few questions you might ask. Add some of your own.

1. How long have you owned a cell phone?

José: I use a cell phone for about 10 years.
Norma: I use a cell phone for about 9 years.

2. What changes have taken place with this device?

José: I see that cell phones have more applications, more modern, lighter and more
storage.
Norma: In my opinion, cell phones have more capacity and have a amazing camera.

3. Has the cost changed? How?

José: Yes, today we can see high-end cell phones that cost thousands of soles. In
addition, the cost varies each year because a better one than the previous one always
appears.
Norma: Yes of course, the cost depends on the brand, quality, capacity.

4. Has the size changed? How?

José: Obviously yes, the cell phones are bigger, but more light.
Norma: Yes, the cell phones are bigger and the screens are full hd.

5. Have the features changed? How?

José: Yes, I have noticed that a person can take pictures like a professional, even
applications to study or work, it has become indispensable for everyone.
Norma: We can have access to absolutely everything through the cell phone.

6. What do you think are the most significant technological advances for this device?
José: One of the most significant is to be able to make video calls in real time and that
cell phones are lighter than before.
Norma: Touch cell phones have revolutionized the whole world.

7. What technological advances of this device have affected you most?

José: Applications, because people have disconnected from the real world and they are
always more aware of the virtual world, social networks.
Norma: We can see how most people are more connected and accidents have even
occurred due to their addiction to cell phones.

8. Do you feel the need to keep buying the latest model of the device? Explain.
José: No, I don’t feel this because I think that with the cell phone I have I am very
comfortable and it is very useful to me.
Norma: I don’t feel that need, since for me it is enough if you can make video calls,
have certain applications and nothing else.

STEP 2: On the Internet, research the electronic devices the survey participants talk about.

STEP 3: Make a report including the person’s information.

The history of the cell phone, the cell phone or mobile phone, is the sequence of
developments, technological innovations and scientific discoveries that have allowed
the creation of mobile phones. It also includes their evolution over time to become the
multifaceted tools that we handle today. Smartphones were the biggest change in cell
phone history. On the one hand, it changed the functionality, incorporating many
aspects of computers. On the other hand, the design changed: phones promised to be
smaller and more discreet each time, but the arrival of Smartphones introduced the
need for large screens.

As mentioned by the interviewees, it coincides with the information on the internet.

Applications have also evolved tremendously, making it essential for everyone for our
jobs, studies. Faced with the need to display information on screens, keyboards were
eliminated, which were replaced by tactile instructions within the screen, known as
touch-screen technology. In addition, more voluminous devices and rectangular shapes
were designed.
