Category Attributes in the Configurator

Definitions of category attributes

primary_category: defines the breadcrumb of the products. Retailers

usually define this as the product’s “home” category the product lives
in then merchandise the product into additional categories. If a
customer lands on a PDP from a search result, this is the breadcrumb
that is shown.

classification_category: defines which product attributes to display.

all_assigned_categories: all categories product is assigned to.

Use rules sparingly!
Too many can impact the
Einstein Configurator Rules (Optional) effectiveness of your
recommendations and can
be too restrictive!
Product to Product Rules

Rules allow you to address specific use cases to

promote/demote or show/hide products based on their
attributes.
3

How Einstein Processes Rules:

● Starts at the top and applies any rules with SHOW or 1
HIDE
● Starts back at the top and applies any rules with
PROMOTE or DEMOTE 2

Output:
● Hide products from the same category and any
products with brand = Apple
Then,
● Promote products with a higher price than
product being viewed and if viewing a sale
category promote New Arrivals
Einstein Configurator Rules (Optional)

How Einstein Processes Rules:

● Starts at the top and apply any rules with SHOW or HIDE
● Starts back at the top and apply any rules with PROMOTE Tip!
or DEMOTE 1
This rule is TOO
restrictive and will
most likely cause
0 results returned.

Output:
● Hide products on sale and
● Show new products
Then
● Promote products greater than $50 and in the
men’s & women categories.

Use Case - I want to assign a product to a recommender

I want to pin products to always show in an Einstein slot.

You can pin up to 2 products to a specific

They will display to the shoppers in the order they are

defined in the Configurator.

The pinned products are static and the remaining slots

are filled with Einstein Recommendations.

These recommenders are displayed on Home, Category

product anchor being passed (as you’re not on a PDP).
