Given is the table comparing the amounts of rubbish which was produced between six nations

over 20 years from 1980 to 2000.

Overall, there was an increase in the amount of waste production in five countries except

Korea. Moreover, the USA had the largest amount of trash produced in comparison with others.

In the period, the amount of waste production in the US rose significantly from 131 millions of

tonnes in 1980 to 192 millions of tonnes in 2000. Similarly, Japan, Portugal and Poland

witnessed the same trend in the amount of produced trash that the Japan’s figure rose from 28

millions to 53 millions of tonnes while the amounts of other two countries increased from 2 to

5 millions of tonnes and 4 to 6.6 millions of tonnes respectively.

Furthermore, Ireland experienced a noticeable upward trend when the amount of waste output

was 0.6 millions of tonnes which was the smallest one in 1980, it reached to the same amount

as Portugal of 5 millions of tonnes in 2000. However, Korea witnessed a downward trend during

over 20 years when the amount of waste production was cut from 31 millions of tonnes in 1990

to 19 millions of tonnes in 2000.
