Classical Conditioning Theory (John Watson)

1. Describe Watson’s experiment based from the pictures. (Your answers should be based from your
own interpretation and not from the internet).

Before conditioning, the child has no fear and only feels curiosity about the rat. After conditioning, in
further experiments, the child seemed to generalized his reaction to the rat. The picture shows that he is crying
and seemed to be distress.

2. Write an example of classical conditioning based from your own experience in different situations:
a. Fear (Home or school)
The fear of going home from school with no learnings. The fear of not knowing and not be able to answer
any questions from the teacher. The fear of getting low grades at school and disappointing my parents.

b. Happiness (Home or school)

Happiness for me is in the comfort of my home. The time and the bond spent with my family is an outmost
satisfaction.

c. Post-traumatic disorder (School or anywhere)

One thing that traumatized me the most is when we got the COVID-19. We were quarantined in our home.
It felt like the world fell down upon us. It was very depressing experience. Not being able to celebrate my
mom’s birthday because they are in the hospital. It felt like all the problems have piled up. That’s why we are
extra more careful nowadays.
