(1) The PROFIBUS network has two ends. The stations at these ends must be correctly terminated.
Turn SW1 "ON" only for the stations at both ends.
Set SW1 for the other stations to "OFF".

(2) Always set SW1-1 and SW1-2 to the same positions.

2. Installing onto the Inverter

2-2-3 Connecting to the transmission path

The network cable wiring and main circuit wiring should be separated as far as possible. When laying the
wires in parallel, separate them by 30cm or more, and do not lay them in the same duct.
If the network cable and main circuit wiring intersect, intersect them at a right angle.

Check that the VAT2000 power is OFF and stopped, and that the PROFIBUS interface PCB is installed
on the VAT2000 before connecting the network cable.

(1) Connecting with a network cable

To use a high transmission speed exceeding 500kbit/s, directly connect the network cable to the
terminal block.

3-2 Setting the PROFIBUS interface functions

(1) Setting the frequency and speed from the PROFIBUS master
When setting the frequency or speed from the PROFIBUS master and carrying out operation, be
sure that the sequence command CFS is ON, or that the setting input point selection C02, is fixed
to serial.
Example) Operation mode : Remote (RMT)
1) Speed setting selection : C02-0 = 4 (Sequence)
CFS command : C04-5 = 4 (Controlled by terminal block input PSI4.)
or,
2) Speed setting selection : C02-0 = 2 (serial fixed)
The contents of the input/output data will change according to the control mode selection (C30-0).
Refer to section 3-4 Input/output data for details.
Refer to Fig. 5-9 to Fig. 5-13 in the "VAT2000 Instruction Manual (document No. PCST-3251) for
details on how the command data is reflected onto the selected operation in the VAT2000.

(2) Operation with sequence commands from PROFIBUS master

When carrying out operation by sending sequence commands from the PROFIBUS master, make
sure that the sequence command COP is ON.
Example) Operation mode : Remote (RMT)
COP command : C03-5 = 16
(Operation is always carried out with the sequence commands from the host computer.)

Refer to Fig. 5-2 in the "VAT2000 Instruction Manual (document No. PCST-3251) for details on the
sequence input logic.
Note) When sending an auxiliary operation sequence command, make sure that the control
changeover method (J2 setting): C00-6 is set to serial transmission input.
Control changeover method (J2 setting): C00-6 = 2 (Serial transmission input)

(3) Setting the station No.

Set the local station No. (slave address on PROFIBUS-DP) with C35-0. After changing the setting,
turn the power ON again.

Refer to Appendix Table 1 for details on the above settings.

CAUTION

When setting the frequency or speed, and carrying out sequence control with PROFIBUS transmission,
automatic start and restart after power interruption may not function correctly. This is caused by a
difference in the power voltage operation and the time for transmitting the command.

When reading the parameter, the data from the VAT2000 will be set as the input data (MUX_SD).

(3) Output and input sequential No. (MUX_CCNT, MUX_SCNT)

When transmitting a new command, change the value of the output sequence No. (MUX_CCNT).
When the VAT2000 confirms that a new value has been set in the output sequence No., it will
process the command. When the VAT2000 completes the command process, it will copy the output
sequence No. into the input sequence No. (MUX_SCNT).

3. PROFIBUS Transmission

3-4-5 Precautions

(1) The input/output data is refreshed every 10msec with the interval process, but the multiplexed data
is processed in the background (BG).
The response will be 100msec or more.

(2) The fault information for the PROFIBUS interface is shown below.

1) Details of fault codes (Displayed on operation panel)

"IO-7" fault : Judged at the initialization process.
(Starting not possible) This occurs if the system does not start within three seconds after the
interface system is reset during initialization or fault reset.
The inverter unit also will not start in this case.

"IO-8" fault : Judged with the interval process.

(WDT) This fault occurs if there is no response from the interface for 100msec
during normal operation.

2) Resetting the fault

If an interface fault occurs during normal operation, the interface can be reset by resetting the
fault. If "IO-7" occurs immediately after starting up, there may be an error in the interface.

(3) The precautions for using the multiplexed data are given below.

1) Data No.
The data numbers are the same as those given in the parameter setting table. (Refer to Chapter
6 Control Functions and Parameter Settings in the "VAT2000 Instruction Manual (document No.
PCST-3251)".)
If the target data is not found in the main unit, the main unit will ignore this data.
In this case, an error will be set in the IO status. (Refer to section 3-4-3 (10).)

2) Data processing speed

The data is processed in the background (BG).
Thus, the main unit's response will be extremely slow, and the response time will always be
unstable. Thus, the time delay must be considered during application.

3) Application design
If the same items are selected for the various setting data and multiplexed data and different
output data is set, the data will ultimately be refreshed to the various setting data. However, as
the operation on the main unit side will be unstable, do not design this type of application.

4) Parameter writing
The multiplexed data has all functions that can be operated on the operation panel.
Thus, if the application is not suitable, the inverter functions may also be changed, so take
special care when setting the data.
