24.1.3 Application
The DAP board is a C-band dual-channel pluggable OA base board that amplifies
optical signals. The boards are configured at the transmit and receive ends of the
equipment respectively.
Figure 24-1 shows the application of the DAP board in a ROADM site.
Figure 24-2 shows the application of the DAP board in an OLA site
The built-in VOA of the OA module can be configured before or after the OA
according to the network design.
Basic functions ● Amplifies the power of the received optical signals in the
C-band. This board supports wavelengths within the
range of 1529 nm to 1561 nm.
● Supports service transmission with varying fiber spans
without using electrical regeneration.
Light sensor (LS) ● The IN and OUT ports detect and report multiplexed-
wavelength optical power.
● The OUT port detects the single-wavelength wavelength
and single-wavelength optical power of an OTU board
with the LS function at the source end.
● The board works with the OD license. After the OD
function is configured, the board supports OSNR
detection for single-wavelength signals of an OTU board
with the LS function at the source end.
Gain locking The EDFA has the gain locking function. When this function
is enabled, adding or dropping one or more channels or
signal power fluctuation inside some channels does not
affect the signal gain of other channels.
Working mode In the gain locking mode, the gain of the board is tunable
and the user can query the actual gain of the board.
Transient state The EDFA inside the board has the transient state control
control function. When channels are added or dropped, the board
can suppress the power fluctuation inside the signal
channels to support smooth upgrades and expansions.

required by each module on the board.
Indicators
Table 24-3 lists the description of the indicators.
Ports
Table 24-4 lists the type and function of each port.
The laser hazard level of the board is HAZARD LEVEL 1M, indicating that the
maximum power launched by the board ranges from 10 dBm (10 mW) to 21.3
dBm (136 mW).
The IPA function must be configured for the OAU105 and OAU107 boards in the

are enhanced. TP TMB1SCC.
● The TNF2OBU board newly supports the 1800 II
Pro TMK2UXCL.
● The TNF2OBU board newly supports the 1800 V

24.3.3 Application
The OBU board is used at the transmit or receives end to amplify optical signals in
the C band.
For the application of the OBU board in the WDM system, see Figure 24-9.
For details about the functions and features, see Table 24-28.
Functions and
Features Description
Transient control When channels are added or dropped, the unit can
function suppress the fluctuation of the optical power in the path
to achieve a smooth upgrade and expansion.
Functions and
Features Description
Variable optical TNF1OBU: The VO/VI port on the board can house the
attenuator SFP EVOA module to adjust the transmit or receive
optical power.
TNF2OBU: The board has an internal EVOA module,
which adjusts the transmit or receive optical power.
NOTE
An EVOA is used to adjust signal optical power. You can either attach the EVOA to the OUT
optical port to adjust the transmit optical power of this board or attach the EVOA to the IN
optical port to adjust the receive optical power of this board. Variable optical attenuators
are optional for the TNF1OBU board but internally equipped in the TNF2OBU board.
Signal Flow
One multiplexed optical signal received through the IN port is input to the
erbium-doped fiber amplifier (EDFA) optical module. The EDFA optical module
amplifies the optical power of the signal and locks the gain of the signal. Then,
the amplified multiplexed signal is output through the OUT port
The multiplexed signal can also be input from the VI optical port, and output from
the VO optical port after the optical power is adjusted, and then received by the
IN optical port.
Functional Modules
● EDFA optical module
– Multiplexed signal light and pump light enter the erbium-doped fiber for
amplification. The erbium-doped fiber that is excited by the pump laser
can amplify the optical signal to implement the optical power
amplification function.
– The optical splitter splits some optical signals from the main optical path
and provides them to the MON port for detection.

There are some indicators on the front panel.
