In response to the implementation of Brigada Pagbasa SY 2021-2022, Taliptip
Elementary School was spearheaded by Mrs. Armida SJ. Santos, the school principal utilized the
CI Project entitled Project REAP: Reading Enhancement Amidst Pandemic which was validated
in SY 2020-2021 to be the primary reading intervention to be used in Grade 2. This year, Project
REAP was also used to enhance the reading skills of grade 2 pupils who were identified as poor
and nonreaders using the Project Zero Nonreader Assessment tool.

Very Good Good Average Poor Non-reader
The graph above shows the reading level of grade 2 pupils. It shows that 31.95% or 31
out of 97 pupils in grade 2 were identified as very good readers while 12.37% or 11 pupils were
poor readers and 27.83% or 27 pupils were nonreaders. In total, 40.20% of the pupils were
lacking skills in reading.
After identifying the number of poor and nonreaders in grade 2, the grade level teachers
decided to continue the implementation of the said CI project in the present year. They
conducted an orientation with the parents regarding the conduct of this project as well as about
the reading status of their children.
After the orientation, grade 2 teachers started the implementation of the project. They
began to distribute the reading materials to the pupils during the distribution and retrieval of
modules. With the collaboration of the parents, teachers were able to check the progress of the
pupils through the videos and pictures sent to them. They also checked the progress by giving
assessments that show how each pupil improved during the intervention.
In April 2022, a posttest was conducted to finally check the progress of the pupils. The
graph below shows the progress of the pupils in reading.
The graph reveals that from 40.20% poor and nonreaders there were only 7 pupils left
with poor reading levels. It shows that the intervention conducted had an impact on the pupils’
reading skills. Despite the result showing an increase in the number of readers in grade 2,
teachers did not stop after the post-test. The reading intervention continues so that pupils
continuously improve their reading levels.

DOCUMENTATION
Since not all pupils were able to attend the face-to-face classes, they sent videos via
Facebook messenger showing their skills in reading. Those who lack an internet connection send
it to the class adviser via Bluetooth during the distribution and retrieval of modules. They used
the reading material from Project REAP.
Some photos were taken during the implementation of the Project REAP in Grade 2.
