Observation and Findings A.

Table 1 The quantity of space that anything occupies is measured by its volume (Lindsay, 2020).
Volume is one of the important components in the production and processing of food products.
Therefore, it is crucial to know what method to use in computing the volume no matter what the
shape of the food is. As cited, one of the most practical and straightforward ways to calculate the
volume of an item with an irregular shape is to use the Archimedes water displacement method (How
to Find Volume With Water Displacement Method. (n.d.). Sciencestruck.com.) The Archimedes
water displacement method is a process that enables people to compute the volume of an object by
just dropping the object into a container of water. This particular process is done in this experiment.
In table 1, the volume of each sample (mung beans, quail egg, and chicken egg) obtained through
water displacement. It is found that among all the samples, mung beans have the highest volume of
40ml with a weight of 50g, while quail eggs have the lowest volume of 10ml. It is also observed that
the volume of the samples is equal to the amount of volume added to the initial volume of the water
after putting each sample into a particular amount of water (200 ml). Therefore, matimatically, the
volume of the samples was computed by subtracting the initial volume of the water from its final
volume. In other way the formula is: final volume minus initial volume (vf – vi) equals the volume of
the sample (Blaettler, 2010). *Lindsay. (2020, January 23). Weight vs volume measurements in

Table 2. The volume of solid food can be calculated using the displacement method. In table 2, the
volume of cupcake and chiffon cake was obtained using the seed displacent method. Traditionally,
the Archimedes' principle-based water displacement method can be used to calculate an object's
volume (Siswantoroa, J.,et al. 2013), but in this part of the experiment, in order to be able to measure
the volume of the samples, the water displacement method was modified to seed displacement.
Usually, rapeseed or pearls are used in this method, but in this experiment, mung beans were used as
seeds. By deducting the volume of seeds held by a container containing a baked good from the
volume of seeds without the baked good, the volume can be estimated using this method. In Table 2,
it is found that the chiffon cake has more volume than the cupcake. The chiffon cake has an 80ml
volume, while the cupcake has only a 30ml volume.
One of a baked good's most crucial properties is its volume. It serves as both a baked products
quality control program and a crucial component of consumer appeal. It provides details about the
bread crumbs' density and the strength of the gluten in the flour. Lack of volume usually means that
weak flour or flour with low enzyme activity was used (Food Tech Solutions, 2012). To apply this to
the experiment, a bigger volume chiffon cake is linked to more aerated crumbs and a better texture.
Therefore, the experiment's cupcake may have been assimilated by using a weak flour or one with
low enzyme activity.

In this experiment, we open a small box of raisin and count the pieces to see how many are
inside. We completed counting the raisin, which came in one little package with 70 pieces. It is
observed that, the raisins' sizes are evenly distributed.

Table 4

The total weight of the mushroom, including the can, is 340 grams. The net weight, which is 218 grams,
is the weight of the item or product without the packaging. The drained-weight of the mushroom, which
is the weight of the mushroom without the water contained in the mushroom, is 122 grams. There were
also 16 pieces in all. Pineapple tidbits had a gross weight of 390 grams, which is the total weight of the
product plus the packaging. After removing the packaging, we get the product's net weight, which is 242
grams. Next, we drained the pineapple, resulting in a final weight of 148 grams. Finally, we counted the
pineapple pieces and found that there were 76 of them. Both pineapple and mushrooms have been
found to benefit from the packaging's ability to keep the food fresh until consumers get it. And once the
customer received the goods, there was no weight reduction.
