HIGH SCHOOL LIFE VS COLLEGE LIFE

As a college student, I’ve noticed a change in my school life or my life as a

student. Going back there is a lot that happened and there are many things that I’ve

learned in school, but what are the changes and differences between high school life

and college life?

There are a lot of differences between high school and college, I must say that

in terms of their mode of learning. In High school teachers are expected to discuss

everything with the students while in college professor there is some time that

professors are just giving basic information or just giving an introduction about the

topic. In terms of giving assignments, both are the same but the difficulty of the

assignment given is different in high school, assignments are given by the end of the

discussion but in college assignments are given before the discussion, meaning that

we need to know about it or we need to do an advance reading to that particular

topic to answer that assignment. When it comes to schedules, high school students

have a fixed schedule they must stay in the school for about 8 hours or some schools

only have 6 hours of school time including their recess and lunch hours, while in

college it is more complex, for each major subject you’ll have to stay in class for 3

hours and for minor subjects you’ll have to stay for 1 hour to 2 hours, there are also

laboratory subjects and you either have a lunch break or none. There are also vacant

hours before you go to your next class, it will take 1 hour or 3 hours. High School

and College life also have social diversity, when we say social diversity or diverse

social life we encounter or we interact with different students with different religions,

cultures, economic statuses, and many more. I experience having a classmate in high
school whose age is twice our age in the class, the same thing happens in my current

college class whose also twice our age. In college, as I observe, students are now

serious about the courses that they took. College makes us more mature about what’s

going on in our surroundings.
