Summary

Saint Catherine of Alexandria is a canonized saint in the Catholic Church. She was martyred in 305 in
Alexandria, Egypt. She was born on 287 in Alexandria, Egypt. According to the Christian tradition it was
said that Saint Catherine was of a noble birth. At fourteen, she had an overwhelming vision of Mary and
the baby Jesus and made the decision to accept Christianity. She was said to be an intelligent and brave
woman for one time when the emperor Maxentius began persecuting Christians, Catherine went up to
him to tell him about his cruelty. You would think that the emperor would just announce her death after
what she did, but instead the emperor called fifty orators and philosophers to debate her but, with the
power of the Holy spirit she was able to convince several pagans and because of them believing in
Chrstianity they were also executed. The emperor was angered and ordered that Catherine be tortured
and imprisoned. After being imprisoned, the emperor proposed to her and asked her hand for marrigae,
but Catheirne refused saying she was married to Jesus Christ and that her virginity was dedicated to
him. After being rejected to marriage, the emperor ordered for her to be executed by the breaking
wheel, when she was positioned to be executed , she then touched the breaking wheel, and a miracle
happened when the wheel shattered. Not being able to execute her using the breaking wheel, the
emperor ordered to behead her.
