Dolomite sand poured again over Manila Bay ‘white beach’

A. It was October of 2020 since the start of beautification of the Manila Bay using
Dolomite sand. Government had 389 million pesos to spend for its beautification
and only 28 million was spent for crushing Dolomite sand and 6 months later fresh
dose of dolomite sand was poured. Fresh dose means another money spent for
washed away sand, for a few months tons of sands and money were washed away
for an unplanned beautification of the Manila bay which will also affect the ocean
floor.
B. In just 6 months while the Philippines is suffering from the pandemic the
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) suddenly decided the
Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program. This rehabilitation program is for the beach
nourishment, coastal restoration, and enhancement of the bay. Since it was just an
overlaying of Dolomite sand above of ordinary sand it meant that Dolomite sand will
be washed out by storm of tides.
C. This is my illustration about the dolomite
sand, I do not have much
experience from editing or photo
manipulation and this is my idea to make my
illustration a bit fun.
D. We may see this blindly, but this issue will
impact the environment greatly. First the
Dolomite sand is crushed and extracted in
Cebu, they have found that extracting this
sand affected the marine life around the
mining area. Second the overlaying of the
sand may look great but environmentally
saying this is very detrimental for the marine
life, corals and the aquatic birds habituating,
this program just seem so unnecessary and
unplanned it almost look like a child wanting
to build its own resort.
F. The only solution here is to stop the
program and just solely focus on the pandemic, the citizens will not think about
going to the beach midst of pandemic. The govern shant think about tourism when
they should think about the citizens who lost their jobs and income because the
purposeless lockdown. How about they actually invest time and money to what will
resolve this problem before moving onto another one, it seems like they are just
repeating what is done ineffectively.
