THEORY OF

HOWARD EARL GARDNER


Howard Earl Gardner is an
American developmental
psychologist.
 He best known for his theory
of multiple intelligences which is
out lined in 1983.
The theory suggests that there
are a number of distinct forms of
intelligence that each individual
possesses in varying degree.
According to Howard Gardner the multiple
intelligences are the following;

This intelligence implies
the ability to learn and use
language . Those have
high linguistic intelligence
are good at listening ,
speaking, reading and
writing using humor,
convincing ones, views
and at oration .
MUSICAL INTELLIGENCE
This intelligence implies the
ability to produce and
appreciate music .Those
who have high musical
intelligence are good at
singing ,whistling , playing
musical instrument ,
remembering melodies and
understanding the structure
and rhythm of music
LOGICAL- MATHEMATICAL
INTELLIGENCE
This intelligence implies the
ability to analyze problem
logically, carry out
mathematical operations and
investigate issues scientifically.
Those who have high logical –
mathematical intelligence are
good are good mathematics ,
chess , computer programming
, problem solving , etc.
SPATIAL
INTELLIGENCE
This intelligence
implies the ability to
perceive vision and
spatial judgment .
Those who have
this intelligence are
good at visualizing
and mentally
manipulating object.
BODY KINESTHETIC
INTELLIGENCE
This intelligence is the
ability to use parts of the
body to solve problems
or create something.
Those who have this
intelligence are good at
dancing, sports, crafts
and acts and at
expressing emotions
through body.
INTRA PERSONAL
INTELLIGENCE
This intelligence
implies the ability to
understand oneself ,
to appreciate ones
feeling, fears,
motivations, dreams,
strength, weaknesses
and goals. They tend
to be introvert.
INTER PERSONAL
INTELLIGENCE
This intelligence implies
the ability to interact
successfully with others.
Those who have this
intelligence try to see
things from others
perspectives. They are
great organizers. They
tend to be extrovert.
NATURALIST
INTELLIGENCE
This intelligence implies
the ability to nurture
and relate in formations
to ones natural
surroundings Those who
have this intelligence are
said to have greater
sensitivity to nature and
their places within it.
EXISTENTIAL
INTELLIGENCE

This intelligence
implies the ability to
raise and reflect on
philosophical
questions about life,
death and ultimate
realities.
MORAL INTELLIGENCE

This intelligence
implies the ability to
deal with morality.
Those who having this
intelligence can
differentiate between
right and wrong. They
can take right
decisions.
