Evrod Cassimy Donates More Than $40,000 to H.S. Students,

Announces New Music & Final Concert As He Says Goodbye To
Detroit
 
 
Evrod Cassimy, Morning News Anchor for WDIV-TV Local 4, is leaving the station and the city of Detroit.
He’s going out in a big way, giving back to the city he’s called home for the past nine years.

With the release of his latest project, “The Life of James,” and upcoming and final live concert in the city,
Cassimy is donating more than $40,000 to The Triangle Society, a Detroit based non-profit that provides
funding resources to support the education initiatives for Cass Tech Students in the critical areas of need
including academics, athletics, and fine arts.

“It’s so important to me to continue to give back to this great city that has been so great to me and my
family. I’ve always been big on education and The Triangle Society works closely with students at Cass
Tech. I’m honored to use my music to support their great work.”

With his last album, “E3”, and the more than $30,000 raised with that project, Cassimy and The Triangle
Society were able to purchase new instruments, gowns and uniforms for students within the fine arts
department at Cass Tech and more.

“The Life of James” live concert fundraiser will serve as Cassimy’s public “Going Away Party” and
everyone is invited. It’s being held on November 5th at Emagine Theatre Royal Oak (200 N. Main Street)
from 6-8pm and is free to attend with registration. Cassimy will perform songs from all of his albums
including his latest project. The event is hosted by Wal-Mart Radio’s Kirby Gwen and will feature special
performances by Cassimy himself, Detroit’s own Beth and Swifty McVay, from the hip hop group D12. A
private VIP after party will follow with music by DJ Base.

“This is my last chance to say Thank You in person for allowing me into your homes for the past nine
years,” said Cassimy. “I’m humbled and incredibly grateful for your love and support.”

“The Life of James” is a four song EP featuring songs written by Cassimy and is available on November
4th, the day before the live concert fundraiser. The project celebrates his love for gospel, R&B, pop and
house music.

“James is my middle name,” said Cassimy. “Chances are if you know a person’s middle name, they’re
someone you know really well. This project allows you to get a closer look at who I am and a chance to
get to know me a bit better.”

Additional proceeds from the event will also be donated to The Triangle Society’s efforts. A special check
presentation will follow the live performances. Everyone is invited to attend. Seating is on a first come,
first served basis and early arrival is suggested. Guests must register in advance online

Cassimy’s last day on the air with WDIV Local 4 News is November 4th, coinciding with the release of
“The Life of James” which will be available everywhere. Mid-September he announced he made the
difficult decision to leave the station after nine years for Chicago.
