EEP 2 (English for Speech Communication)

Vowels and Diphthongs Presentation Drill: Poetry Plus
First Semester, Academic Year 2021-2022

Instructions:
1. Create a group with ten members.
2. Write a two-stanza poem containing five lines per stanza that revolve around the
idea ‘Education in the New Normal.’
3. Ensure that the poem contains at least five (5) different vowel sounds and at
least three (3) different diphthong sounds. Underline the phoneme with identified
vowels and diphthongs in your poem and write their respective IPA symbols
below every underlined word. Write the complete names of your members below
the poem.
4. Recite and record the poem with your group members. The style and manner of
reciting and recording will be under your preference. You are allowed to utilize
any recording and editing applications for this activity. The presentation must
not exceed five (5) minutes.
5. You will be graded according to the criteria below:

Content 10 points

Organization and Poetic 10 points

Elements

Word Choice 5 points

Presentation:

Clarity 15 points

Organization and 10 points

Creativity

6. Submit the copy of your poem and presentation in the LMS or the class’ Facebook
Group in this format:
