How to find your heart rate


1 Investigate and see how fast your heart beats!

1 With a family member, make a piece of plasticine flat.


Stick a toothpick in the middle. Put the plasticine on your
wrist under your thumb. Rest your arm on a table. Watch
how the toothpick moves. This is your heart rate!
2 To find your resting heart rate, sit and look at a stop
watch or clock. Count how many times your heart beats
in one minute.
3 Is your heart rate always the same? Jump at the spot for
60 seconds. Count your heart rate for another minute.
Write your results in the table. Now your family member
repeats the process. Compare your results.
4 Take turns walking up and down the stairs for one
minute. Check your heart rates and record your results.
