EXT. A TERRACE HOUSE STREET – MIDDAY

We open on a normal terrace house street, filled with fairly average properties. Simple brick
homes with simple layouts in their design. Except for one of them. All the different houses
are shown and they’re shown to be almost fully identical except for very small minute details
such as the colour, door etc. However, one house is shown that is very different from the
others, the windows are boarded up, it’s quite run down, the bricks are filthy, there’s moss all
over the roof and overall it looks drab, ruined, and abandoned.

INT. LIVING ROOM – MIDDAY

The inside of the run-down house is shown. We are inside the living room. The windows are
boarded up letting barely any natural light inside. The walls are torn and ruined. The rotting
wooden floor is covered in old takeout food boxes and various stains, there’s a carpet also on
the floor covered in more stains and pieces of food inside the carpet that have clearly been in
it for a few years. The TV is on playing a generic gameshow. The sofa is shown with one of
the characters, MATT, laying on his back watching the TV. The sofa is very sunk in and are
covered in irremovable marks, scratches, and tears. MATT is a rather skinny man, with a beer
in hand looking defeated. The second character, JONNY, emerges through the living room
door, overweight man, with a miserable looking facial expression. He’s holding an empty
beer bottle and chucks it on the floor next to MATT. It breaks and shatters on the floor but
MATT is unphased.

JONNY
(Moody and angry)
We’re out.

MATT doesn’t look up at him, and keeps his eyes on the TV

MATT
(Monotone)
So?

JONNY
Go get some. Three crates. No less.

MATT still hasn’t looked up from the TV

MATT
Fine. But this really is the last time. I can’t stand having to do everything for you and buying
all the drink you want.

JONNY walks out MATT finally looks away from the TV and begrudgingly gets up from the
sofa, the sofa rising again now that no one was sat on it.

INT. THE HALLWAY – MIDDAY

The hallway of the home is equally as bad and as filthy as the living room, wallpaper peeling
away, shoes all over the floor, coats and jackets spread across the floor too. It’s clear that not
only has there been no care taken with just the living room, but the entirety of the home.
MATT goes and collect a shoe from one side of the hallway, and then starts to search for the
other one. After searching for a few seconds, he gets extremely agitated that he can’t find it.

MATT
(Furious)
WHERE ARE MY FUCKING SHOES?!

JONNY
(Agitated)
SHUT THE FUCK UP! JUST LOOK UNDER ONE OF THE COATS OR SOMETHING
DON’T YELL!

MATT looks into the living room, even more angry but keeps himself composed so as not to
make JONNY anymore angry. MATT looks under a coat and finds his other shoe.

MATT
(Grunting)
I’m going now..

MATT flings open the door, having it slam against the wall with a loud crash. The light
beams onto his face and into the hallway, illuminating the entire hallway and the entirety of
MATT. He visibly winces and squints as the sunlight hits his eyes. Clearly going outside is
not a common thing for MATT.

MATT
(Muttering)
God damn, that’s bright…

EXT. THE TERRACE HOUSE STREET – MIDDAY

MATT pulls out a pair of very used grimy sunglasses and puts them on. He steps out into the
beaming sunlit street. Birds are chirping, and people are out, walking their dogs, kids are
playing, overall the street is bustling, except for MATT and JONNYS house. MATT trudges
down the street looking disgusted at all the sights of all the different people enjoying their
day. Some KIDS skateboarding nearly hit MATT but he is able to dodge out the way.

MATT
(Furious)
YOU STUPID FUCKING IDIOTS! YOU NEARLY HIT ME!

The camera is in front of the KIDS skateboarding. They skate past the camera and we see
MATT standing in the background collecting himself. MATT turns the corner and sees the
shop. He starts to slowly trod, and then enters, the shop.

INT. THE LOCAL CORNER SHOP – MIDDAY

The camera is placed behind the door so we can see MATT enter. A bell rings to indicate that
someone’s entered.

SHOPKEEPER
(Cheerily)
Good afternoon sir!

MATT
(Snapping)
Mate, I’m not in the mood

The SHOPKEEPER’S smile immediately disappears, realising that he should only speak
when he has to. MATT rushes through the shop, desperate to just get back home. He goes
straight to the alcohol isle and picks up 3 crates of beer, he knows where he’s going. It’s clear
he has done this many times before. He sluggishly carries them to the counter and dumps
them on it. The SHOPKEEPER starts scanning the crates, looking a little intimidated. MATT
looks incredibly uncomfortable and ready to leave.

SHOPKEEPER
Okay, so that comes to £35.97 – Can I see some ID?

MATT rummages around trying to find some ID, eventually he pulls out a grimy provisional
license and hands it to him.

MATT
There, can I just have the crates now?

SHOPKEEPER
Well sir, you’ve got to pay of course.

MATT pulls out his wallet filled with unused condoms, some loose coins, his credit card, and
old receipts. He takes out his credit card, not knowing how much is on there. He tries to scan
it but it gets declined.

SHOPKEEPER
Oh, sorry sir that didn’t seem to go through, do you want to try again.

MATT grunts, slightly panicked, but tries again, however it gets declined again.

MATT
(Mutters under breath)
Shit…

SHOPKEEPER
Sorry sir, it decli-

MATT is filled with rage, and cuts off the SHOPKEEPER

MATT
YES I KNOW ITS DECLINED AGAIN

SHOPKEEPER
Sir please don’t yell we don’t tolerate that kind of attitude towards employees.

MATT looks left and right, checking to see if there’s anybody around. He is contemplating
what to do, he can either lose one crate, and piss off Jonny beyond belief, or, rob the
SHOPKEEPER. MATT reaches into his back pocket after confirming no one’s around and
pulls out a small, but powerful, handgun.

MATT
(Aggressively whispering)
Right, don’t make this any harder then it has to be, just give me the crates, and you don’t get
hurt

The SHOPKEEPER looks incredibly scared and panicked

SHOPKEEPER
Okay sir, um, okay, you can ha- ha- have the crates just please don’t shoot

As the SHOPKEEPER is speaking to MATT he is also stalling, reaching over for a button
under the counter that alerts security. MATT notices this.

MATT
(Pointing the gun into his face)
Touch that button and you’re dead, hands up. Now.

The SHOPKEEPER complies and raises his hands. MATT grabs the crates and runs straight
out of the shop

EXT. THE SHOP CAR PARK – MIDDAY

MATT runs through the street as fast as he can. The skateboarding KIDS come back and
actually hit him this time, knocking him and the crates over.

MATT
(Furious)
I SWEAR TO GOD I’M GONNA FUCKING GET YOU ALL ONE DAY!

MATT collects the crates, his hands shaking uncontrollably, and continues running. He
reaches his and JONNYS home again, and pounds on the door.

MATT
(Panicking)
JONNY! OPEN THE DOOR MAN PLEASE, PLEASE OPEN THE DOOR! I ROBBED
THE SHOP AN-

The door swings open and JONNY is standing in the doorway with a look of pure rage. He
grabs MATT and pulls him inside

INT. HALLWAY OF JONNY AND MATTS HOUSE – EARLY AFTERNOON

JONNY
(Holding back anger)
Right, I’m going to ask once, did you take my gun?

MATT
(Playing dumb)
What?

JONNY
(Shouting)
DON’T PLAY DUMB WITH ME MATT! I NOTICED MY GUN WAS MISSING WHY
THE FUCK DID YOU TAKE IT

MATTS hands are shaking uncontrollably, he knows he can’t lie his way out of it.

MATT
(Terrified)
Yes I d-d-did b-but I had to in case things went south at the shop!

JONNY
DID YOU PULL IT OUT THERE YOU STUPID FUCK!

MATT
(Crying)
I-I-I’m sorry Jon I am I really am

JONNY
Don’t you dare apologise now, you’ve stolen my gun, pulled it out at a shop, and broke most
of the alcohol.

JONNY looks so incredibly angry and pulls out a bigger handgun in his back pocket and
points it at MATT.

MATT
(Trembling)
Jon… please don’t do this

JONNY
NO! You have ruined everything, give me one good reason not to blow your fucking brains
out right here.

MATT
It won’t happen again Jonny, please, just, don’t sho-

JONNY pulls the trigger and shoots MATT. MATT’S body falls to the floor with a loud thud.
Sirens start to fade in, as the police show up to arrest MATT for robbing the shop. JONNY
realises this and flees.
POLICE OFFICER
(Shouting)
Mr Greiff?! This is the police, we need to speak to you!

The POLICE OFFICER gets another officer to break down the door after trying multiple
times with no response. They open the door and all there is, is MATTS body in the hallway,
an open window, and the gushing wind.
