According to Clear Touch website, Most K–12 public school teachers keep at least one computer
in their classroom. But far beyond the reach of simple desktops, most teachers also report a
variety of other tech devices at school—LCDs or projectors, digital cameras, and interactive
whiteboards. But with the advent of in-class technology, and more and more options for teachers
and administrators alike, the question must be asked: what are the pros and cons of having
technology in the classroom? Classroom technology is the incorporation of technology into
school classrooms, labs, lecture halls and auditoriums, for the benefit of supporting other
learning and teaching initiatives. There are many types of classroom technology you may run
across in today’s modern school, including: Whiteboards and interactive flat panels, Desktops,
Laptops and Tablets , Projectors,Television,3D printing and software & application.
Although a few studies have been done, few have provided a vast-enough baseline. Additionally,
because classroom technology is relatively new (within the past 20 years for even the oldest
tools!) and it is hard to quantify the true impact of technology on overall retention. What is
relatively agreed-upon, however, is that the use and implementation of the classroom technology
plays a highly important role in the effectiveness of the technology in the learning environment.
Classroom technology is helping students learn and retain information is by ensuring that the
technology is being used to its fullest potential. While there are many advantages of adding tech
to the classroom, the landscape has its own challenges.  Of course it also have a disadvantages of
having a class technology. This are Fighting distraction, Less social interaction, More time in
lesson planning, Higher availability for cheating and . For all the challenges that in-class tech can
reveal, there are a number of great reasons why keeping our classrooms up-to-date with the best
that tech has to offer is a great idea. Here are a few benefits to having technology in the
classroom. Technology is more than a tool; it’s a life skill, No more out-of-date curriculums,
Better student engagement and it makes your job easier.

As stated at the article by ViewSonic (2020), Though we generally see progress as a good thing,
there are definite disadvantages of technology in the classroom. From distraction to reducing
face time, EdTech isn’t a magic bullet for every situation. With some awareness, however, most
disadvantages can be overcome, like some of the surprisingly old-school thinking that helps with
tech disparity. From apps and e-textbooks to organizational platforms and “gamification,” there’s
no shortage of technology in the classroom. But, while EdTech tools can make lessons more
engaging and useful for students raised on technology, they can equally challenge teachers and
lead to suboptimal outcomes for students. How can teachers get the most out of technology
without sacrificing efficiency or engagement? Of course there will be challenges along the way
as we adopt new technologies in education and improve them to suit student outcomes. But the
advantages vastly outweigh the disadvantages of technology in the classroom. It is just always
important to remain aware of where the latest tech is coming up short and to adjust course for the
best possible learning outcome for the students.
There’s no reason to be afraid of EdTech, but nor should we rush blindly into digital
transformation. After all, education is all about learning, and we should all be open to the
ongoing process of improvement that comes with it.

According to the study of Best (2020), Technology is becoming ever-present in modern

classrooms. But for many of teachers, they’re still not sure how to feel about it.  We want to
engage students and prepare them for the future, but we can’t help but worry at the same time.
Do they really need more screen time? How much time and effort (not to mention money) is this
going to cost? That’s because there are both pros and cons to using technology in the classroom.
Pro: technology makes learning more engaging, technology is a cost-effective alternative to
traditional materials, technology makes learning more engaging, technology gives students and
teachers access to an endless supply of learning resources, technology can save teachers time,
technology allows for authentic learning opportunities, technology opens up new possibilities for
student collaboration, and technology in the classroom develops students’ technological literacy
skills. And it cons are technology takes time to learn and integrate, not all tech-enhanced
teaching strategies make a difference to student learning, unreliable information is everywhere,
good tech tools cost money, technology can be a distraction, and technology can be isolating.
Always remember that  don’t be fooled by the ‘digital natives’ argument! Our students might be
permanently fixed to their devices, but that doesn’t mean they know how to use them responsibly
or productively. If you’re in any doubt, think about how their emails might come across in a
workplace! Still weighing it up? Remember that while technology has no shortage of potential,
it’s how you use it that makes the difference. Implement it meaningfully and you can have the
pros without battling the cons.
It is great to be optimistic and believe in the continuous advancement of technology, however, it
is equally important to not lose sight of the negative sides of technology in education, and how it
can cause long-term problems for young people. Namely, many sceptics from the domain of
social sciences and humanities often point out several potential disadvantages of technology in
education, and how it can negatively affect certain aspects, and the quality of children’s life and
development: Potentially diminishes cognitive development and reduces problem-solving skills ,
It is distracting both in the classroom and outside of it , Maintaining modern technology is very
expensive , Reduces direct peer interaction,

In accord with Allison Academy, Many technology enthusiasts believe that changes in the
education system can only go forward due to an incredible growth in the number of inventions
that are continuously changing the description of existing professions. In this regard, many
believe that abandoning traditional classroom education altogether is almost certain in the near
future, noting that traditional education will not be able to adequately prepare students for the
new challenges and demands of the real world.   However, sceptics often argue that we should be
careful with the immediate implementation of modern technologies in the classroom, primarily
because of the potential consequences, such as widening of an existing social gap, an increased
number of individuals who suffer from mental illness, and the regression of children’s cognitive
and academic development that may prove irreversible.
Looking back over the last hundred years, introducing technology into the classroom has been a
blessing only for younger students and teachers. In other words, with a sudden introduction of a
wide range of devices and the Internet, students got the opportunity to make the learning process
much easier and more interesting. Key benefits of technology in education include: Provides a
better interactive experience during the learning and teaching process , Provides access to an
unlimited amount of current information and data from a variety of sources , Teaches them
digital literacy , Reduces educational costs, They can choose between real-time learning or
learning at their own pace  and Provides better insight into student performance thanks to
metrics, It is easier to cheat in exams  and Reduced number of teachers due to automation and
reduced salaries. Different people have different opinions on the introduction of these changes in
the education system, especially if it’s done so suddenly and in such a short time. However, one
should be realistic, because the advantages still far outweigh the disadvantages.
So, a continuous insistence on disadvantages should not be seen as a desire to return to
traditional education, but as a reason for caution and the possibility to better see the holes in the
technologies and methods used in education. It is up to educational institutions and teachers to
analyze the disadvantages in the next revision, and improve the quality of teaching both in their
digital and physical classrooms.

According to Miller, The modern classroom has taken several steps forward in its evolution of
the learning environment in the past 25 years. Many of the benefits that we have seen in this
setting are due to the introduction of new technology options for students. Instead of having a
single computer for a class to use or a laboratory environment for the entire school placed in one
room, we can now help students learn at their table or desk with items issued to them directly.
Our development of the Internet since 1989 has helped us to include more technological access
to information in the modern classroom as well. If you grew up as an 80’s kid, then you had the
A/V cart come into your class to watch educational videos and maybe have a snack. Now
students get to play interactive learning games, compete against other students, and have their
educational statistics tracked in real-time data to know where their point of focus should be.
Based on his study the technology advantages to education are Technology helps children to stay
motivated during the learning process., Technology options in the classroom are very affordable.,
It encourages more communication between teachers and parents, It creates new ways to learn
for today’s student, Technology allows us to give students access to data from a single location,
Technology in the classroom encourages collaboration,  The introduction of technology allows
for the teaching of needed vocational skills, It gives us better access to behavioral data on
students, Technology helps to prepare students for their future world, It encourages students to
stay engaged with their learning environment, and Teachers have more credibility when they use
technology in the classroom. And the disadvantages of it are The presence of technology can be
distracting to students, Some students may not know the difference between reliable and
unreliable resources, Technology can make it easier to cheat, Using tech can cause some students
to disconnect from the classroom, Technology is a resource that not all families can afford, There
are privacy concerns to consider with technology in the classroom, Some technologies could
replace the teacher in some classrooms, Technology in the classroom could create medical
problems for some kids, Kids often lose track of time when using technology in the classroom,
Many classrooms place limits on technology access, and Technology can create dependencies for
information recall.
These advantages and disadvantages of technology in the classroom indicate that students and
teachers can be more effective in their roles with its presence. Although there can be varying
levels of comfort based on the amount of exposure each person has to computers, electronic
whiteboards, and other items, an introduction of new tech is an investment that can offer ongoing
dividends.

According to Jacob (2016), Much has changed since he was in the middle school. He was struck
by the extent to which recent technological innovations have created many new opportunities to
better serve traditionally disadvantaged students. First, increasing speed and availability of
internet access can reduce many of the geographic constraints that disadvantage poor students,
Second, the evolution of touch-screen technology has enabled very young children to engage in
technology-aided instruction, Third, advances in artificial intelligence technology now allow
teachers to differentiate instruction, providing extra support and developmentally-appropriate
material to students whose knowledge and skill is far below or above grade level norms Finally,
even with the best implementation, digital learning is likely to benefit students differently
depending on their personal circumstances and those of their school. For instance, non-native
English speakers might benefit from online instruction that allows them to pause and look up
unfamiliar words. Likewise, we might expect an online course to be more advantageous for
students attending a brick-and-mortar school with very low-quality teachers.
In recent years, the worlds of online learning and computer-aided instruction have converged to
some extent, morphing into what is often referred to as blended- or personalized-learning
models.

As stated by Celebree admin , Technology has become a foundational component in many areas
of our daily lives, as well as our children’s. Within the confines of the classroom and learning
environment, technology can be both beneficial and problematic for students. Here, the child
care professionals at Celebree School discuss the pros and cons of technology in education. Pro:
Using Technology Can Excite Young Students, Prepares Students for the Future, and
Technology Encourages Spontaneous Learning. Its Cons are: Use of Technology Can Distract
Students, Technology Can Discourage Creativity, and it removes Children from Opportunities
for Socialization.

According to souders (2009), As a college student in the 21st century, she been privileged to
witness the modernization of technological learning in my time as a student. Many people are
astonished by what we are now capable of doing by the touch of a button. For example, students
can type notes on an iPod that can fit in their pockets instead of writing them down; but what
kind of students are being created by this new technology? She believe that many of the
technological advances used for learning are creating lazier students and possibly hindering our
capability of becoming more intelligent. Although technology is a convenient and more
interesting way of learning, some might say it is hindering our capability of expanding our
intellect. For example, when writing a works cited list for a research paper, students used to have
to look up how to cite sources correctly in an MLA guidance book. Although this took time,
students became more likely to use and remember the format because they read it with their own
eyes. Now, students are just plugging in their information to a computer, and they don't even
have to think about their source. If we rely too much on technology in school, what happens in
the real world when technology fails or some kind of error occurs? Heather Holden, an expert on
the affects of technology in the classroom, said that technology makes students lazy and less
motivated, and I totally agree.? Yes, as we make our way into the future the rising importance of
technology cannot be ignored, but I think constant use of technology in the classroom is taking
away from the work ethic needed in the work force today. Students need to start seeing the
importance of hard work and not always rely on what is fastest and easiest. She believe
professors should still incorporate technology into the classroom, but should make assignments
that also do not have anything to do with technology. But it is also up to students to realize the
importance of hard work and for them to realize you cannot always rely on technology.

As reported by Andrews (2016), The OECD has claimed that computers distract pupils, make
them lazy thinkers and can even lower grades. Does the education industry agree? “Young
people take qualifications in technology, so how can these be taken if technology is not used,”
says Stephen Diston, head of sciences at exam board OCR. “I suppose across the curriculum
there is a danger that technology could become a distraction, but using technology in a range of
contexts is exactly what young people will be doing for the rest of their working lives. So having
experience of using technology in a language lab, or as a research tool in humanities, those are
transferable skills that all students need. I’d be worried if the only time students saw a computer
was in a computer science lesson.” Schleicher believes that education needs to get the digital
agenda right. “Provide educators with the sort of environment in which they can help young
people develop 21st Century skills. Adding 21st Century technologies to 20th Century teaching
practices will just dilute the effectiveness of teaching,” he says.

As stated in waiden University Article, Technology has transformed life as we know it, and the
classroom looks much different than it did 50—or even 10—years ago. Traditional chalkboards
have been replaced with digital whiteboards, and classrooms have a surplus of iPads.  Is this
advancement to the detriment of your students, or does it benefit their learning? According to the
Pew Research Center, 92% of teachers said that the internet has a major impact on their ability to
access content, resources, and materials.* Here are some of the ways educational technology
improves the classroom experience: Creates a More Engaged Environment, Incorporates
Different Learning, Improves Collaboration, Prepares Children for the Futureand Connects You
With Your Students.

According to  Himmelsbach (2021), Technology in the classroom is essential for increasing
student engagement and empowering educators to create innovative learning experiences in and
out of class. How does technology impact student learning? In the physical classroom, some
postsecondary educators view technology as a distraction. Even if they don’t ban the use of
mobile phones or social media during lectures, they may begrudgingly view technology as a little
more than a necessary evil.
But after a year of remote learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, perspectives are changing.
Rather than simply ‘tolerate’ it, instructors are realizing that technology and the power of digital
devices, apps and tools can increase engagement, encourage collaboration, spark innovation and
enhance student learning. In and of itself, Educational technology doesn’t result in effective
teaching and learning. It still requires a guide (the educator) and a purpose (related to the
curriculum). And there is effort and strategy required to integrate it effectively into your course
material. But, if used with intention, technology can be transformed from a distraction to an
effective teaching tool with positive effects on student achievement. Here are a few answers to
the question of how technology has changed education, and reasons why educators should make
the most of technology inside and outside the classroom. Technology affords better access to
resources, Technology can improve student engagement, Technology can encourage self-paced
learning, Technology can promote innovative teaching techniques.
While technology is sometimes seen as a threat—and it does have its limits—integrating it into
your teaching practice offers a new way for students to interact and engage with course material.
And this is especially essential after students have become used to learning with technology
during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thanks to technology tools, education is no longer confined to
the walls of your classroom. YouTube videos and social media don’t have to be a distraction;
they can be part of your lesson plans. The math is easy: it adds up to better learning outcomes.

According to Education.com (2014), Kids gravitate towards technology—if your child heads
straight for the video games or Facebook after school, you know what we’re talking about. With
a world of information at their fingertips nowadays, it seems like kids should be finding it easier
than ever to succeed in school. However, as more classrooms invest in the latest technology, test
scores remain the same, bringing its effectiveness into question.
Despite the challenges, incorporating technology into education still has proven benefits,
especially when it comes to personalized learning. From math games that adjust the level of
difficulty as players progress to electronic books that talk and respond to the tap of a finger,
products that personalize the learning experience for students often benefit their understanding.
An interactive game is more engaging than a book, so technology often promotes more practice
and review in areas requiring memorization, such as spelling, math and geography. This frees up
time in the classroom so educators can focus on skills like problem solving, character
development and critical thinking.
Technology also makes it easier to spend more overall time on learning. “After school and
weekend time can become effective learning time with the right technology,” says David Vinca,
founder and executive director of eSpark Learning, an education company that focuses on
bringing iPads and iPods into the classroom. Much like how smart phones extend the workday
by allowing professionals to send emails anytime, educational technology extends the school day
for kids who will happily play multiplication games or review grammar on computer programs.
Educators also find it easier to track and assess student progress with the help of technology. At
the end of each lesson cycle in eSpark’s app, students record a video summarizing what they’ve
learned, and email it to their teacher. If a student consistently misspells words of a certain
pattern, the teacher will know immediately and reintroduce that specific skill. This kind of data-
driven information is invaluable for teachers who want to revise and review.
Technology may be changing the experience of education, but the role of teachers and parents
grow increasingly important as they become the experts and guides for new learning resources.
Teachers remain the constant in an ever-changing classroom environment, which will continue to
shift with the technological tides. Vinca agrees. “However technology is used in class, it has the
opportunity to be a game changer.

According to Harvards. In this age, many people, especially students, use Technology to make
complicated things simpler from the use of phones, internet, modern gadgets, appliances and
many other services that technology offers. But if we go beyond what’s really happening right
now with the use of technological advancements, we are slowly being swallowed by this system,
we are being out from the borderline. How does technology makes students lazy? Technology
makes students waste their time on using their electronic gadgets rather than studying,
Technology may likely influence students to cheat rather than answering based on their
learnings, Technology has made students lazy which results cutting class to play computer
games,, It is a known fact that technology decreases labor needs and costs by providing greater
access to information, enabling timely and informed decision making, among other things.,
Technology is popular among students because it helps them to do less work. Because
Technology is of high convenience, technology is now being overused to the point that it gives
negative effects to its user. Students may spend more hours using technology because of its wide
network students may be inclined to cheating because of higher alliance for its information and
students may also have addiction towards technology which causes them to skip classes and
spend more time on technology rather than studying although people cannot stop there lions for
technology and its advancement people are given high responsibility for good people mostly
students should learn how to balance the use of technology with the use of technology should
only be as an aide and not scented in people's life.

As stated at Innerdrive,  It is arguably education's biggest debate at the moment: does technology
in the classroom help or hinder student achievement? With such amazing advances in technology
over the past decade, the temptation would be to use as much of it as possible. But just because
some technology is available, does it mean we should use it? But what about actually using
modern technology within education? Does this support and enhance learning? We needed
technology in lockdown for remote learning. Now schools have returned face-to-face, what can
we take from this? Is technology as useful back in the classroom? Can it play a key role in
enhancing learning?
Pros of technology in classroom: Student attitudes and engagement, Good for a range of skills,
Working with others, Technology for SEN, Reducing teacher workload, and Bridging the gap.
And its Cons are: Everyone needs paper, It costs, Tech = distraction = teacher workload, The
Google Effect, Logistics and A matter of preference.
Modern technology, such as tablets, could play a very important role in enhancing education, as
well as helping to bridge the achievement gap. However, to avoid problems of distraction, it
needs to be skillfully implemented. This means good organization, classroom management, and
of course, there may be large costs.
That is the big picture. Ultimately, it’s up to schools to weigh up the information and consider
whether benefits outweigh costs and effort, to decide if and how they can use modern technology
in their classrooms.

An article  by pioneerlistsblog (2016) stated that, If we recall our childhood, our classrooms used
to revolve around a teacher and students sitting idly and half of the class listening to the teacher
blindly!! But now advanced technologies are introduced in classrooms and this is improving the
student’s level of thinking and innovation. Meanwhile, on the other hand, it is also affecting
students by making them lazy, obese and unhealthy. Pros of Using Technology in Classrooms
are it develops Independent Leaning Skills, Reduces Burden of Textbook & Tuition Fee,
Exciting Ways to Educate Students and New Teaching Methods. And the Cons of Using
Technology in Classroom are Negative Impact on Technology, Lack of Interest in Studying and
Diminish In-Person Education System.
Finally, Integrating advanced technology in the education system is inevitable, but proper usage
might help to keep the drawbacks to the minimum.

TAPAR
An article by Viewsonic (2022) stated, There are many benefits of technology in the classroom,
so we’ve picked five of the most significant for this handy list. From increased engagement to
more inclusive environments, the correct application of EdTech improves a wide range of
learning outcomes. And of course, using the latest tech helps prep students for the future in a
variety of ways. There's no exaggeration to say that technology has transformed the classroom
and brought enormous benefits. In a fairly short time, amazing innovations like iPads, laptops,
and smartphones have opened up a new world of information for students of all ages. Adapting
to this exciting new reality can be challenging for both teachers and students. But for those who
embrace it, the advantages are virtually limitless, Let’s take a look at the biggest benefits of
technology in the classroom, starting with something you really don’t want to miss: its powerful
effect on student motivation, Benefit #1: Makes Students More Engaged and Helps Them Retain
Information, Benefit #2: Accommodates Multiple Learning Styles, Benefit #3: Encourages
Collaboration, Benefit #4: Provides Instant Feedback for Teachers, And Benefit #5: Prepares
Students for the Future.
As the saying goes, “The future is now.” This has never been truer than it is today. What’s more,
it will be even more accurate tomorrow. If the classrooms of tomorrow fail to keep pace with the
forward march of technology, the future is destined to be problematic.
If, however, schools can rise to the challenge presented by the ever-changing nature of
technology, students will be able to discover their limitless potential and take advantage of the
many opportunities that have yet to present themselves.

According to Hermitt, It is a wonder that more technology isn't used in schools, especially
considering that most people and businesses cannot function without the use of a computer.
Having more computers in schools could improve the level of instruction and address many of
the problems in schools. The real pros and cons of using technology in the classroom create a
stalemate that can prevent technology from being used more widely in the classroom.
EXPLORATION- Pros: Computers allow students to learn through exploring the internet and
doing research. The act of looking up information and researching papers with such an extensive
resource can keep students engaged in a project and learning far longer than they would with a
set of encyclopedias. Cons: Some students will explore beyond the bounds and parameters of the
project and become distracted by other activities that they find on the internet.
LESSON INTEGRATION- Pros: By incorporating technology into lessons, students will
become more engaged in and excited about the subject at hand. Lessons that would normally be
tedious for many, such as social studies, can be much more engaging with virtual field trips and
streaming video. Cons: Finding the right materials online to integrate into a lesson is not always
easy. This means teachers may spend a lot more time planning lessons and become overwhelmed
and frustrated.
SPECIAL NEEDS- Pros: In special needs classrooms, each student is able to go at his or her
own pace with the help of technology. This allows the students get individual instruction directly
from the computer, which allows the teacher to accomplish more while feeling less stretched.
Special needs students who are handicapped can also make use of assistive technology, which
can allow them to communicate better. Cons: Special needs technology can be very expensive
and take an inordinate amount of money to acquire and operate.
COSTS- Pros: Schools can secure grants to help pay for for technology in the classroom. Cons:
Technology in general is expensive. Schools with minimal technology resources can spend
hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Classroom technology, especially laptops for individual
student use, must be replaced every two to three years. Tech staff is required for a school with
technology in the classroom. The more computers the school uses, the more people will be
needed to keep the technology running.
TRAINING- Pros: Training required for teachers and students using technology in the classroom
will keep the users computer literate and allow both teachers and students to use their training in
part-time jobs and future careers. Cons: Training to use computers in the classroom can be costly
and time-consuming. Many teachers are unwilling to participate in the extra training.
Technology gets a bad rap these days. Teens are spending more time online than ever and
becoming depressed in the process. Young children learn to type before they can write, a skill
that is said to be essential for brain development. They’re all shamed for being addicted to
devices, and tech companies are blamed for creating addictive tools. In this dystopian picture it’s
easy to take for granted the importance of computers in society and to forget the good that
technology brings people today. The benefits of a computer and other tech gadgets in teaching
and learning are numerous.
The advantages of a computer in teaching and learning are many. Various online collaboration
platforms allow students and teachers to collaborate on projects online, inside and outside the
classroom on a computer in school, as well as ask questions, share ideas and continue class
discussions beyond the classroom. Easy access to the internet means instant access to
information, allowing students to conduct independent research right in the classroom.
Lecture capturing tools allow instructors to capture their lectures on video for students to review
later. Similarly, note taking software allows students to easily take, store and access lecture
notes. Technology has greatly enhanced testing and student self-assessment. Using technology
can greatly enhance students’ learning of math and science concepts. With technology, students
can visit any location on earth without leaving the classroom, using software like Google Earth.
Technology allows students to become content creators themselves. They can create wiki pages
collaboratively, write student blogs, create videos, webpages and other online content.

As reported by Brown (2019), Technology is a hot topic these days in education. Some people
are very supportive of integrating technology in classrooms, while others point out the negative
effects that it may have on students. Parents and teachers may worry about the extra screen time,
the lack of face-to-face interaction, and the distractions that the use of technology implies. Others
embrace technology because they see the enthusiasm, motivation, personalized educational
experiences, and collaborative opportunities that technology can provide.  Everything is good in
moderation, and technology is no exception. Here are the pros and cons of technology use in the
classroom. He gives the 7 pros of having technology in the classroom. Here are: Preparation for
life in the “real world”, Up-to-date information, A variety of resources, Cost effective and
Motivating and engaging. He also gives a 5 Cons of having Technology in the classroom. Here
are: Excessive screen time, Cheating, Distractions, Less human interaction and Unequal access
to technology.
Technology is a powerful tool that positively impacts learning. By showing students how to use
it effectively, teachers can negate the handful of negative associations to create a safe and
effective learning environment. As a result, students will be more engaged and motivated when
working on fun and interactive educational tasks. They will also develop the skills they need to
be successful in the future.
